Quality Inn Christiansburg - Blacksburg

Excellent experience! The room was clean, and it had all the necessities. The check in process was simple. We didn’t get the use the pool, but it was very clean and looked inviting. But the BEST PART by far was the BREAKFAST!!! The food was wonderful. There were tons of options. The coffee was great! The lady that served breakfast was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Extremely helpful with all the guests. She put a smile on all the faces she met.

NASTY FILTHY BLACK MOLD INFESTED ROOMS. I tried 2 different rooms and went from bad to worse. Black mold in ceiling and on walls, dust on everything, disgusting AC unit, dirty bathroom, the place should be shut down. Made me sick. No apologies.

Place was packed on a Monday night. Mostly trucks of all shapes and sizes. Rooms are not very well maintained but are a good value. Breakfast was only adequate at best. I’ve stayed at several Choice properties recently and have been thinking that Choice has improved its product but this place makes most of that good feeling go away. Oh well, you get what you pay for is truism yet again.

Stayed here for one night a second time simply because, just like last time, I happened to be near this exit on the interstate when I decided to stop for the night. When I used my search engine for vacancies this night, I found this place was actually just a little less than a nearby Econolodge -- the latter chain known more for economy than quality. I had found good value at this Quality Inn the previous time I stayed here, so I decided to stay a second time. It was a good decision. Our room had a full bath (but no drain plug), phone, AC, fridge, microwave, in-room safe, desk, couch, iron & board, hair dryer, clock-radio, coffee-maker, and TV with over 100 channels. It was clean, quiet, and fairly well-maintained. Free amenities included parking, wifi, hot breakfast, and outdoor pool. Staff was polite & professional. Like almost chain lodging right on the interstate, this motel is long on value but short on warmth & charm. If you just need a place to stay for a night or two, this will meet your needs quite nicely.

Never again. The first room we had there was no light in the bathroom - good thing I checked before we unloaded the car! The light cover was leaning against the wall outside the bathroom and there were no bulbs in the fixture, so housekeeping had to know when they cleaned the room. The second room we were given had a coffee machine that did not work - the water heated up but then leaked out somehow all over the table - not a drop when into the coffee pod. And of course this room was the furthest from the front desk and the breakfast coffee. Having said that, the highway noise overnight did not bother us at all. Room was big and bed was comfortable.

Very comfortable stay with friendly check in/check out employees. Room was very clean and a good night's sleep was had with a comfortable bed and quiet room. Coffee was weak and free breakfast was so/so.

We stayed at this hotel as we normally do every year for the 4th of July. We arrived at the hotel and they ended up putting us in a room that already had someone else in it. Once we finally made it to a room it was a little dirty. The hotel is very out dated. Which it has been. The door handle for the bathroom just fell off in the middle of the night. Maid service never once came to our room for the 3 days we were there. We had to go to the front desk to ask and get stuff. The breakfast was very good and had plenty of options. The young man working this all 3 days we were there was pleasant and kept making sure more food was out. He even helped my 93 year old grandfather with his coffee and breakfast by carrying it to the table. If they would simply put some money back into this hotel that 2 star would easily jump to 4 or 5. But they haven't updated anything and it is starting to be ran down.

Pros: The staff here is super friendly. The rooms are actually decent for a budget hotel (FAR better than the Super 8 up the street). They offer breakfast, but there's also a Cracker Barrel within walking distance. The room was clean for the most part. I wiped everything down when I got here, anyway. Close to several local walking trails (Deerfield Trail is a personal favorite). Cons: Lots of noise pollution as it's right off a main road with many tractors blowing by on a regular basis. Even with earplugs in, you can still hear a lot of them. Seems to be a favorite for truckers and workers. If you're a trucker, you'll probably love this place, but the parking spots near the lobby (where you go for breakfast) were always taken up by trailers/tractors during my 3-day stay. Pointers: If they put you in the second building, you might want to drive to the lobby for breakfast. I didn't mind this, but would have rather walked, except there were always a bunch of folks out in the parking lot, so I chose to drive to the lobby (I travel alone most of the time). Depending on what time you like to get breakfast/coffee, it might be necessary to go somewhere else, as the lobby breakfast area is sometimes FULL of people. All in all, this was a decent place to stay for the price. A rule of thumb (for me, anyway) is that if the room doors are on the outside as opposed to inside, you're kind of taking a gamble.
