We stayed at Sterling Munnar for one night as a family of four (with two kids), and it was a very disappointing experience. Right from the start, the service was poor. At check-in, no one explained the facilities — we were just handed the room key and left to manage everything ourselves. No help with luggage, and the AC in the room wasn’t working. Room service was extremely slow — took over an hour just to get a water bottle. Staff behavior was mostly rude and indifferent. The restaurant manager, refused to allow us to take breakfast or even juice to our room for our sleeping kids — despite charging ₹750 + tax for the breakfast our child didn’t eat. The buffet was terrible too — limited options, especially for continental, and the food felt stale. To make things worse, Reception Manager Vaisakh (or Visakh) was extremely arrogant. We were charged for an extra bed that was never provided. When we argued about it, he casually said “add it to the breakfast charge” — the same breakfast they didn’t let us take to the room. Before our stay, I noticed this Sterling property had lower ratings compared to other resorts in Munnar. I now understand why. The location is beautiful, and there are some kids’ activities (mostly chargeable), but that’s the only positive. Hospitality, service, and value for money were all severely lacking. Definitely not worth the premium price. I would not recommend this resort to families looking for a comfortable and welcoming stay.
