Hampton Inn & Suites Detroit/Chesterfield Township

Rooms are dirty and were never cleaned during my 3-day stay here. Staff was very rude, A cleaning lady named Kim was yelling at a guest and her child in the hallway so lound that I had to come out of my room and ask her to keep it down. Then she yelled at me. When reporting her to the GM, he was just as bad in customer service, telling me that we would evict them. I just said maybe your cleaning staff should focus on cleaning and not yelling at the guest and showed him the stains in my room. His response was " ya well we are doing a retrovet soon" and left the room. Perhaps they should also retrofit the staff and send him on a customer service course. Will never stay here again.

The walls are so thin you can hear every word of your neighbors conversations. They run out of breakfast food if it's busy. Every soda machine broken. Convenient location on Hall Rd and Gratiot. Pool, and gym were nice. Office center functional.

The General Manager, Dan M. is the rudest customer service representative I have ever spoken to. I called the local phone number and Made a reservation for August and they charged me for the same day I called and made the reservation. Isnt willing to give any solutions or give me credit even though it was clear that the room rate was based on a wedding block in August. He interrupted me throughout the conversation and offered zero help, only blame. Write down any front desk employee you speak to, because the customer service is abhorrent.

Stayed here for a single night in conjunction with a wedding. My room was clean, quiet, very comfortable. Front desk service at both check in and check out was also very professional. No problems whatsoever. My only question was the extra $50 added and later retracted from my bill for “incidental” expenses. Huh? There was nothing in the room that remotely qualified as incidental, such as a fully stocked refrigerator or bar. Pet damage and such, that I could understand. Overall I had a nice experience and would recommend this as a good place to stay. Easy on/off from I-94.

Worst place in all of Michigan to stay. Been going to Lake St. Clair for 8 years now and I have stayed at this place several times. It has gone way down hill. The staff was rude not only to me but other guest as well. I heard several conversations while checking in that were rude. They over booked the hotel for the week and couldn’t give my friends the room they paid for…. They complain about boat parking when over half the guest are there to fish for the week. They have very few outlets that work outside to plug up and charge boats. My advise to you is to find a new hotel because our group will. Place is terrible.

We chose to stay in a suite for the extra room. When we got to the hotel we were told that the fold out couch didn’t work. I stated that we needed it and they provided us with a roll away cot and said that they wouldn’t charge us for it…I would hope not since it wasn’t our fault. Next we got to the room, now we had this cot to deal with, taking up space and making it difficult to move around. We tried connecting several times to the wifi and had a great deal of difficulty. We finally got connected and while my kids were replying to texts & surfing the net the wifi booted us off. They didn’t realize this and our internet provider kicked in and now we’re being charged $50 for roaming. After realizing that the wifi was booting us out after only a couple of min of usage we tried calling the front desk but the room phone was so crackly the front desk couldn’t hear us and kept hanging on us, so we had to go down to talk to them and they said they were having difficulties and to keep trying the wifi, the woman on duty was abrupt. Next came sleeping, the beds were very uncomfortable and my daughter had a difficult time sleeping on the cot. 12:30-1am came and the fire alarm went off. Found out it was a false alarm, whew, we were glad…until we heard another family complaining that this happened the night before last as well. Overhearing the conversation we find out that they had been having problems with the fire alarm. No one warned us of this when we checked in. Not great confidence in this hotel and the rest of the night was very uneasy.

We have stayed at this location many times . It alway meets our expectations. The hotel was clean, well managed and a great location The staff was outstanding. A great breakfast and very clean inside and outside.

I booked a king bed room as the listing on ********** stated that the room slept 5 and rollaway beds were available for a surcharge. On check in, it was shift change at 11pm and the woman checking us in was obviously concerned only with leaving. She was flustered and loud and short with whoever the poor soul was that had the nerve to call the front desk, abruptly putting them on hold. When I said that I needed a rollaway, I was told that it was unavailable for my room as it was a fire hazard. She said there was nothing she could do and I couldn’t up with the manager on Monday (this was Friday night). My tired family insisted that we would just figure it out and make it work so we went up to the room. The room had LOTS of room for a rollaway. I went back down to the desk and actually showed the listing that said it sleeps 5 and all but begged for a rollaway for my son. This new clerk said she would call management and then call our room to let me know. Meanwhile, my son made up a makeshift bed on the 18” wide bench that was at the foot of the bed. (See attached photo) The clerk called back and said all they could do was switch our room but charge us more money. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had in a long time. They advertised the room as being able to sleep five but it did not. That, apparently, is my fault and my problem. They had the opportunity to fix the problem but refused to do so unless I forked out more money. Absolutely unacceptable.

I have stayed there with my family twice now. Last summer was our first experience there; we needed to travel back to MI again at the beginning of May, so we chose this one again. The hotel staff was very professional and accommodating for both visits. The rooms were exceptionally clean and had the amenities needed for a longer stay. Our breakfast each morning had a lovely selection of fresh fruits, yogurt, cereal, as well as hot items that changed daily. The children in our family especially enjoyed the fresh waffles that are available for you to make yourself. One employee that was there on our last visit was still there to our joy. Her name is Kathy Lippman, she is so attentive to detail in the breakfast area, while still making the time to engage with the diners, it almost feels like you could be in a lovely bed and breakfast with her as your host. We appreciate that the staff makes your stay enjoyable.
