Wyck Hill House Hotel and Spa

I can't give Wyke Hill House a rating because we didn't even make it.I booked for a relaxing evening for my wife's birthday via Secret Escapes to include evening dinner so we didn't have to go out scouting around for a meal. They have today notified me that they are no longer doing evening meals but we can still stay on Bed and Breakfast basis. However the deal with Secret Escapes included £35 per head meal allowance and a half bottle of champagne, the reduction allowance offered by Wyke Hill House was £50, how do you make that equate. I have had to put March as when we travelled to satisfy the requirement when we should have been travelling on the 7th of April I have also had to put a 1 star rating as it would not accept 0

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in March for our wedding anniversary. I have to say I was a bit anxious following a number of reviews on here but we had a truly lovely time! The hotel is very traditional with beautiful period features and decor. Some of the window frames and paintwork etc could perhaps do with some maintenance/repainting but I can't say I would even have noticed if it wasn't for some of the previous reviews and it didn't affect our trip one bit! It's been a particularly difficult couple of years for the industry so I can see why maintenance work perhaps hasn't been done yet but as I say it didn't affect our experience. We stayed in the main house in a lovely large room with a separate seating area. There were robes and slippers provided, nice towels, all very clean and well kept. Jacuzzi bath was lush! All the staff were brilliant - the reception team was great, helpful, friendly, professional and dealt with all the usual room requests perfectly e.g. sending up water, toothpaste which we had forgotten, extra coffee, non diary milk etc. We ate in the restaurant both evenings and the food was superb! I understand that there is a new chef team that has recently started and wow what a lovely surprise. Both nights we thoroughly enjoyed the food. The waiting staff were also great, friendly, attentive, professional. Absolutely no complaints. This is our second stay at the hotel and we will definitely be back again!
