Chelmsford (Springfield)

Dear Premier Inn Team, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my concern regarding my recent stay at Chelmsford Springfield , specifically in Room 10. Unfortunately, my experience was impacted by persistent noise from the room above, which made it difficult to relax and sleep. Additionally, there were noticeable creaky sounds coming from the room above and the pipes throughout the night, which further disrupted my comfort. Given that I was hoping for a peaceful stay, these disturbances were quite disappointing. I have spoken to the person in reception at the time who apologised and logged the complaint and asked me to leave a review. On a positive note the staff at breakfast were very attentive and overall were great. I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter and consider providing a resolution, whether it’s offering an alternative room or any other form of compensation. We had a comfortable and enjoyable stay which was made special by Rosie a member of staff who was professional, delightful and knew how to make us feel welcome and valued. We have met her on two recent visits and on both occasions she has enhanced our stay.

I last stayed at this Premier Inn in December 2021 and it looks as neglected now as it did then. The recepetion area looks alright and some effort has been made to make it welcoming, but go into the corridors and rooms and it's a completely different story. While my room appeared clean there are plenty of things that need doing. The desk chair was covered in stains, the paint was peeling from around the window, the window ledges and frames were mouldy, the mastic and tiles were dirty in the bathroom. Everywhere looks tatty and in need of refurbishment. Had I stayed on my preferred date my room would have cost me well over £120, it was only just worth £42 I did pay. On the plus side the staff are amazing. Joe the duty manager when I checked in was very helpful, friendly and professional. Later in the evening Deb, Brooke and Amy were outstanding. They were so busy at reception, the bar and in the restaurant, but they dealt with everything calmly, with a smile and a friendly, welcoming attitude. It is definitey the staff that make this Premier Inn, without them there would be no good reason to stay there. Maybe, the powers that be should invest some money in their older properties instead of just wanting to add to the ever increasing room stock. Having to work and stay positive in a tatty, forgotten workplace is not easy.

Two-night stay for a funeral. The room smelt musty and of stale cigarette smoke, which we could not shift even with the window and bedroom door open. The smell kept me awake at night. On returning home our suitcase still smelt foul (we are not smokers). On moving the armchair in the room a large white cobweb was revealed across the corner of the walls and the carpet was covered in dust in that corner. The corners of the bathroom were simiarly covered in dust. This was certainly not up to other Premier Inn experiences we have encountered.

Room smelt of damp. Mold in every corner of the room, scuff marks on every single wall. Photos attached . I stay in a lot of premier Inns but this has been the worst, just felt dirty. The bed is the only thing going for it. Comfortable as usual. My favourite part was I tried to check in 5 minutes before 3pm and was told it would be £10... I'd rather have just been told to wait 5 minutes.

Got put in 3 different rooms, first room the bathroom was filthy - second room had a literal poo left in the toilet and the bed had marks on, along with the rest of the room not being clean - 3rd room was cleaner however, only one towel for a room of 2 adults, heating did not work so was freezing and toilet did not flush along with a cold shower - staff desk were helpfully so not their fault but not a good nights sleep
