Fairholm Boutique Inns

I made reservations for 2 rooms for 2 nights from September 17-19. No one when we were there around 7pm, no answer for phone call. (Got apology for this by email) Stained seat, TV not working, garbage bin not emptied, aircon with full of dirt, spider web on the wall, water leaks as shower window with no weather stripping, etc.(No response for these even I reported when we check out.)

We were initially concerned about the neighborhood but soon realized it was safe. Downtown Charlottetown was an easy walk. This is an old inn so don’t expect elevators, swimming pools, work out facilities , or even digital keys. It is very quaint and the rooms are very interesting and large. TV is provided by Roku and free to access . Our group stayed on the second floor but the staff brought our luggage up the stairs. The shower was good, the bed comfortable, the breakfast was good. There is an outside porch that was wonderful to sit on, bring your own drinks, and chat the night away. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. Definitely would return to this inn on a revisit. Sometimes it’s nice to get away from the “cookie cutter” hotels.

We very much enjoyed meeting the family team operating the Inn. Sam, Ben and Jake were very helpful! Beautiful large bedroom with fluffy pillows, excellent linens and comfy mattress! Spa bathtub was an extra treat. Exquisite grounds with places to rest your feet and enjoy the cool breezes. Perfect location in the heart of Charlottetown! Delicious 5 star breakfast included with your room! We definitely recommend Fairholm Boutique Inn.

It is hard to give this place anything less than 5 stars! It's in a great location, on a quiet street but within 10 mins walk of bars and restaurants. The room was spacious and modern. The front door staff were very helpful. Parking was free and easy. However, by far the best bit about the hotel was the free tea and coffee in the lobby. And it was good tea and coffee as well, with a variety of fresh milks and creams. I'd go back just for that!

Outstanding hotel offering first rate accommodation and service. Had three nights here and could have stayed longer. Spotless, beautifully rooms and very peaceful. Breakfast great choices and wonderfully presented with a real sense about the food. Perfectly located above the main part of the town with a huge choice of bars and places to eat; concierge advice of where to choose VERY helpful and genuine. The buildings and gardens are very well preserved and respectful of their heritage. We had 3 very pleasant nights. Well done to all concerned.

Beautiful inn essentially in 'downtown' Charlottetown. We were in the Connaught Room with a wonderful view of the leafy street. Spacious and comfortable with a large modern bathroom and a so-soft bed. Breakfast was hearty and delicious. Front desk staff extremely attentive and welcoming.

We first checked into the Emerald which was very dirty with stained bedding, long term dirt under furniture and moldy windows. When we discovered the stained bedding the 24 hour help line was non functional. Sam moved us the next day after a very uncomfortable night to the Samuel unit. We knew it was not very clean immediately but being easy going we thought we would give it a try and overlooked the grubby shower, food on the floor in the kitchen and dirty bathroom taps. In retrospect we should have just left the property. The morning we were leaving I checked under the bed to make sure we hadn’t mistakenly dropped any belongings as I always do before leaving a rental and was shocked and disgusted to see a thick layer of filth and dirt with food wrappers and sticky things under the bed and all around the bedside tables. There are no words for the failures at this property. We would never return and advise our friends the same way.

One of four buildings with different amenities available. Some of the rooms in the other buildings had their own kitchens. Beautiful architecture and lovingly maintained original features from the original home. The rooms have creaky, hardwood floors and massive wood trim but fully renovated bathrooms with a great shower. Our room had a very quiet A/C unit which is a rarity. Breakfast is from a menu and served on real plates with real silverware! Dylan and Chris are the most helpful innkeepers!

Seemed like a good idea when looking online- good reviews, convenient to downtown and a little bit different to a chain hotel. However. When arriving at check-in no-one was around, even after ringing the bell. I had to call the owner from my cell to advise that I was there. The room (Emerald) has a balcony which was nice for sitting out, until someone started smoking on the patio below. On asking about the smoking policy, I was told that it is permitted outside the rooms. The bathroom is small and awkward; the shower is in the bathtub and the tap is impossible to reach because the shower door is in the way. The towel hook over the tub is in a good location but falling off the wall, there is no space for a holder for the toilet roll and difficult to turn around to find it. The plug in the sink leaks and the taps have to kept on if you want a bowl of water. There is no hospitality during the stay unless you specifically request it, no telephone or tea or coffee making facility. There is one coffee machine and water heater in the main reception which is inconvenient as you have to leave one building and walk to another to get your drink- not much help in the rain or early morning. There is a huge fridge in the closet however. The TV was difficult to use, with no instructions on how to access cable channels. It kept coming on of its own free will during the night until we unplugged it. The heat pump worked fine. I'm all for heritage homes being kept up, but attention to making guests comfortable should be a priority too.
