The Ansonborough

We had a wonderful experience at The Ansonborough Hotel. The location was ideal, allowing us to easily walk to great restaurants, shops, and attractions. The staff was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and always ready to help, which made our visit even more enjoyable. Our room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable, providing the perfect place to relax after exploring. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations, and we look forward to returning

This place is just exquisite. No detail is forgotten. The gathering places were wonderful and inviting and the room spacious and beautifully decorated. Great value too. Loved it.

Great older fashion feeling hotel. Very clean rooms and main lobby. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful. Will stay here again and have recommended it to my family and friends.

The Ansonborough was an excellent choice for our family. The loft room gave us plenty of space to spread out! The staff was very accommodating and friendly. I loved the decor and general vibe. The hotel was extremely clean and bonus points for the rooftop! Parking was convenient which was also huge plus. We were able to walk most everywhere. We look forward to returning on our next trip to Charleston.

I stayed here a few years ago and wanted to return to see the renovations. They really have updated all of the furniture and rooms. It was really nice. The location is great. The Harris Teeter grocery store across the street is great. You can walk to all the attractions. It is not a complaint but more of an information of the changes. They used to have continental breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese. That has gone away. They have limited breakfast items for pay in the morning. I felt bad for the people who worked there because no one to speak of had breakfast compared to the past where it was quite crowded. The same holds true in the afternoon. There is a bar with some bites which is nice but it is priced the same as anywhere else. Again, the workers were bored to tears since not many take advantage. A few things to be aware of before going. Parking across the street is now $35 per day. And, which I am not too fond of, there is a surprise bill of CCRD at check out. What is CCRD? Credit card redemption fee. It is basically 2 to 3% of your bill to use your credit card. Places would build in the credit card fee to their advertised price. Someone came up with the idea to boost profit let's charge 3% to use the credit card. It is pretty much a scam which reflects poorly on the hotel. Everyone uses credit cards to pay their hotel bill. So, they should just build it in the advertised price. It gives a bad impression to the customer. It is not as though the cost of the hotel room is not enough. Would I stay there again? Maybe. The hotel fits nicely and it very nice. Don't really like those surprise fees at the end of the stay.

We were in room 109 where the room was positioned looked private but we were woken up every morning. The room is right where people gather for breakfast. Upon arrival the safe was shut took until the next day for someone to open it for us to use. The toilet seat is worse than in the cheapest motel. It didn’t fit or was broken so it was a workout to keep it in place. On the last night we were new towels which were huge and really nice. The first two days we had much smaller and smelled funny. On the up side the hotel is in a great location. The gentleman bartender was also extremely helpful and very nice. Our credit card was charge a recovery fee. At no point during check in, check out, the website, the invoice were we told about this. overall disappointing
