Civitel Akali Hotel

The hotel has 4 stars but I am giving it a full credit for many things which are listed below. As many people mentioned, rooms are not as great as on the website, however it's not a tragedy! Our double bed was huge with fresh bedding every day, the room was cleaned daily and new towels were left in the bathroom. We were not run out of anything as all stuff like shampoos, soaps, etc. were replaced by cleaners. The room had LCD TV with English channels, small fridge, AC, hair dryer and lots of different light settings (good if your "second half" wants to read a book before a sleep). The balcony was not huge and there was one table and two chairs. Staff of the hotel is mostly very young with keen to help others. There arranged a car rental for us with good price and they were always very helpful. Akali hotel has wifi connection from every room without any password. There are also 2 quite new PCs at the ground floor with a printer for guest usage - they are keep clear of any viruses and you can browse internet with Mozilla in Private Mode (nothing (passwords, history, cookies) will be stored at the computers). The pool is small (up to 1,5 m deep) but it's clean and tidy. Breakfasts were jolly good! We could choose from Original Cretan Food and Continental. The buffet was always full and there was at least one member of staff waiting with coffee jug to top up our cups. Location - it's not in the old town centre but it's about 10 minutes walk from there. Overall, the hotel deserves for 4 stars, however I am giving it a 5 stars because my experience was not as negative as other people's reviews. Very good value for money!

The hotel is bear to the Old town(it can be reached by feet) , the personnel is very kind and everything is brand new and clean , service is wonderful and breakfast is delicious, definitely a hotel to keep in consideration if you visit Crete , i’ll be back for sure .

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was very clean and the staff were so attentive - always offering to help with advice or services. Breakfast was wonderful with lots of choice and constant coffee refills . Great way to start the day. The hotel is in an ideal location around 10 mins walk to the old town. Such a nice walk in too. If you’re driving then the hotel is located not far from the main highway road that goes through all of Crete. Really handy!

The front desk girl was amazing, she directed us to beautiful areas and nice restaurants. The included breakfast was fantastic and they keep the breakfast open even later than indicated. The staff were great, don’t forget to tip for the great service. It’s a few minutes walking to Chania old port. Beautiful hotel, keep the greatness up.

Akali-hotelli sijaitsee erittäin hyvällä paikalla saarella liikkumista varten (lähellä linja-autoasemaa), mutta myös Hanian historiallisessa keskustassa vieraillessa. Huoneemme oli tilava, ainoa haittapuoli oli parveke, jolta on näkymät kaupungin vilkkaimmalle kadulle ja siksi paljon melua. Uskon kuitenkin, että uima-altaalle päin katsottuna olisimme pitäneet siitä enemmän. Hotellin henkilökunta oli erittäin ystävällistä.

Absolutely beautiful hotel at a very affordable price!! The staff were absolutely lovely, especially the reception team, nothing was too much and they were able to upgrade us and move us to a room overlooking the pool when we asked. They went above and beyond and purchased oat milk for me to have coffee with breakfast as I am vegan. Cannot recommend this hotel enough and if I were to come back to Crete I would not hesitate to stay here again!

Excellent 'town' hotel ideal for either a business trip (myself) or a holiday spot for sightseeing around Chania and its neighbouring areas. Rooms were very clean, tidy and well appointed, decent size bathroom with good rain shower. Breakfast was good, typical greek fare with addition of a few 'western items' but all fresh and well cooked. The restaurant area was immaculately clean and comfortable to eat in. Staff were extremely helpful and polite in all areas of the hotel. I will be returning to Chania next september for the NMIOTC conference and will definitely stay here again.

A lovely hotel with friendly helpful staff!! Good breakfast selection and clean comfortable rooms! Lovely pool area too. Even though this is a good location as it is only a short walk to the beach and central Chania, it is on a very busy road. The surrounding area is very run down with lots of derelict buildings and lots of graffiti everywhere! It was quite a welcome surprise to walk from this area to the beautiful cobbled streets with the gorgeous tavernas and shops and the harbour, all only a 10 minute walk away! I would definitely recommend this hotel but just be open minded about the appearance of the area surrounding the hotel!

This hotel is located a 10 minute walk from the old town. The rooms are clean, small, and comfortable. There is an unheated outdoor pool, areas to sit, a pleasant breakfast, but truly the most memorable part of our stay was the staff at the reception desk. They were friendly, helpful, and welcoming. It is that kind of hospitality that makes one want to return.
