La Folie Lodge

We stayed at this really nice resort on the island. It was a great place to come back to after sightseeing in Southern Laos, especially the swimming pool which had a great view across the Mekong and the sunset. The meals were a mix of Lao and French influence and really enjoyable. The island is also something you may wish to explore using the bicycles provided by the (you get the chance to see the local villages and also do some exercise). there was a family with two children who spent a few days exploring the island and just relaxing. To get there you travel in a long boat on the Mekong River. Highly recommend.

Our most unique experience in Laos. From check-in to departure, the service, the rooms, the gardens, the VIEWS on the Mekong, the food and most importantly, the experience of being completely absorbed in the peaceful purely rural life of the Island, where time seems to have stopped , were among the best we’ve had in all our travels In terms of location, a much better option than Pakse. The experience of living on a tiny island completely cut off from the rest of the world, taking part in the everyday life of fisherman, rural life, enjoying the most beautiful views on the Mekiong and the mountains behind, is very special. The hotel provides for boat trips whenever needed to go to Champasak (10 minutes boat ride and the views are amazing), and from there, you can drive wherever you wish to very easily. The hotel is simply amazing: the people are extremely welcoming, helpful, efficient and very thoughtful. The rooms are ever so comfortable and luxurious without being too much. Simply elegant, just like the gardens and the restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious, all in finesse. They support many inhabitants as well as various projects on the Island.

What a fab hotel! The whole experience was amazing, from being collected in the hotel boat to transportation over the sandy beach by local vehicle to the door of the hotel. The staff are exceptional, from Sam and his co front of house colleague (sorry I forget his name) to the restaurant staff and cleaners, who quietly and efficiently kept our room and the hotel in pristine order. The staff are warm, friendly and professional and genuinely care about their hotel guests. Our room overlooked the Mekong and we watched the wildlife and water buffalo parading close by, from sunrise to sunset. The pool and lounging deck were a haven but if relaxing isn't your thing, no matter the hotel bikes are great fun to explore the island. We also walked and ran around the island to get a feel for the beauty of the place. The spa was also excellent and recommended for the ultimate relaxation. The food was delicious and although the wine list was limiting (typical for Laos) the cold local BeerLao did the trick after a thirsty day exploring the island or on one of the organised tours on the mainland, booked through the helpful and obliging hotel staff. We have travelled all over Laos and its neighbouring countries and this was a real gem to stay at. I can't recommend it highly enough

Malheureusement, nous ne sommes restés qu'une nuit dans ce merveilleux hôtel. Heureusement, mon mari a eu le temps de profiter du massage - très bien. Accueil très chaleureux, verre de bienvenue, très beau cadre. Chambre spacieuse, pas de TV, frigo, plateau de courtoisie, wifi. Très bon restaurant mais pas grand choix. Excellent petit déjeuner. Vous pouvez disposer de vélo pour faire le tour de l'île mais il faut savoir que ce ne sont que des chemins de terre... Avons donc opté pour le tour en toktok local (nos dos et fessiers s'en souviennent encore). L'hôtel dispose d'un boutique de produits artisanaux locaux (prix très démocratiques). Si vous avez le temps, restez-y quelques nuits. L'hôtel en vaut le détour.

Deuxième séjour dans cet hôtel si particulier (1er séjour de 5 nuits en novembre 2023) . L’arrivée en bateau et la remontée de la plage en tak tak pour rejoindre l’hôtel sont déjà deux belles expériences. Les bungalows sont joliment décorés et permettent d’admirer de splendides levers et couchers de soleil, d’observer les buffles (et notamment leur bain dans le Mekong) ainsi que les pêcheurs. La piscine est splendide (bien utile en raison de la forte chaleur en mars) et le personnel au petit soin. La vie sur l’île est intéressante et un petit repas hors de l’hôtel que M.Mee s’impose. Bref le charme opère toujours autant même la deuxième fois.

Superbe lodge, très bien intégré dans la nature et situé juste en face de Champasak sur la rive opposée. De plus l'établissement a une très belle éthique Les bateaux de l'hôtel effectuent les navettes Les bungalows sont spacieux et bien équipés. Excellent petit déjeuner et bon repas . Le personnel est très sympathique, précautionneux du bien être des clients et à l'écoute. Des vélos sont laissés en libre accès. Cependant le chemin est un peu chaotique. J'ai testé le spa et c'était très bien. Très belle piscine pour la détente. On espère y revenir tellement on s'y est senti bien.

Endroit exceptionnel sur une petite île au calme. Bungalows face au Mékong et piscine magnifique. Vélos à disposition pour découvrir l’île et ses villages avec des habitants très sympathiques. Une vision de la beauté du Laos et de vie à la campagne au bord du fleuve. Dommage cependant pour la gestion quotidienne de l’établissement malgré un personnel gentil et des managers sympathiques: le personnel de service ne parle pas anglais et n’est pas aguerri à la restauration touristique, la cuisine est très moyenne pour le Laos et les prix pratiqués ici, des produits sont manquants à la carte et il n’y a pas de jus de fruits frais. Le petit déjeuner n’est pas d’une grande qualité non plus. Dans les chambres, il manque des frigos et des produits d’hygiène. Ça pourrait être parfait étant donné le lieu mais tous ces petits détails (qui sont des standards partout au Laos même dans des hôtels beaucoup moins chers) gâchent un peu l’expérience globale. Cela reste un hôtel magnifique dans un endroit paradisiaque. Il faudrait juste reprendre un peu en main l’établissement et les équipes. La Résidence Bassac située en face offre un bien meilleur service de restauration par exemple.

Très bel hôtel bien situé face au mekong. Belle piscine, bon petit déjeuner..accueil agréable. Voilà pour les louanges mais quand on paye ce prix là au laos on peu espérer l'exceptionnel. Alors voici ce qui nous a déplu, pas de frigo dans les chambres, petite douche avec rideaux désuet, l'un des vélo que l'on nous a prêté était en mauvais état. Au restaurant raviolis pas assez cuit avec beaucoup de pâte pour peu de garniture. Jus de fruits en bouteille. Quelques détails mais cela peu faire la différence.

magnifique Hôtel la situation sur l'ile lui donne tout son charme le personnel est attentif et parfait.lapiscine complète le charme du lieu. mon seul regret, n'être resté lors de premier voyage que deux jours! mon seul désir, y retourner pour un séjour plus long(mini 4 jours)!
