Candlewood Suites Chambersburg

I would love to give a review of the hotel but the hotel over booked when I had a reservation already made. They called 3 days before the trip and canceled my reservation because they messed up. The girl that called was supposed to try to book us in their sister hotel and call us back. By the end of the day I figured everyone was booked because it was a big wrestling tournament. She didn't even have the courage to call back to tell us. When I called them, I was told by a different girl that I would need to find my own new hotel 3 days before the tournament. Won't consider a Candelwood Suites hotel in the future. I can't even leave a review on the hotels page because the reservation was canceled.

The room was filthy, the walls were dirty and room smelled like a wet sock. Management said the room is scheduled to be remodeled next week. The question would be then why would you rent it out? The chair in the photo explains the experience.

I booked this hotel on June 19, 2022. Four days to check in they cancelled my reservation stating renovations. They offered to call and have me moved to a sister brand and that is where the lies started. Moved me to a competitor that charged me almost double the cost. Offered me compensation - never happened. Offered me points in my account - never happened. Offered 3 times to have a manager call me because they never seemed to be there when I called - never happened. If you need a room for a special event like I did - do not trust this brand.

The person welcoming me to Candlewood went above and beyond what most do to sign in. A genuine smile, a caring approach and when I asked about what she thought of her time here, she was happy with the environment and looks to stay and hopefully move up. She could have stuck me anywhere like many do but she asked for my preference…. So many clerks just stick you in a room. I hope the company looks after her and challenges her to grow with the company and nurtures her to expand her opportunities. Liz is batting a 1000!

The IHG brand has always been my go to for business trips, which are more frequent than I would like. I decided to give this place a shot, and was pretty impressed at first by the room layout. That lasted long enough for the musty smell to hit me. There was mold on my curtains, the wall, and in the air unit. As if that wasn’t bad enough, there was a coat of filth on the carpet and upon inspecting the comforter in my duvet, I noticed stains. Clearly that wasn’t changed between me and the last person. Fine, I went down and got a new comforter. It should stop there, but it doesn’t. I waited 45 minutes for someone to emerge from outside of the building. She treated me like I was an inconvenience. I had gone back down some time later for soap, and again no one was at the desk. I asked a woman if she knew where the blonde lady had gone, and she said she thinks she saw her out back. I walked out to the patio area, and saw the front desk lady with a group of guys smoking what smelled not like cigarettes. I will not be back to this location, and I am disappointed that IHG would allow this type of behavior from their staff.

Not clean, had to move rooms, tv remote didn’t work, missing lightbulb in light. But even with the new bulb, light still didn’t work. Fridge made like a washing machine sound. Coffee in lobby was very watered down,.. found out it didn’t have coffee beans in it. Room was very outdated and didn’t feel clean. Not impressed expensive room for what we got

Our room was not clean. Bathroom Walls are filthy , bathroom floors were dirty in the corners and mold or built up dirt was evident along the baseboard. Priceline gives this place a 9 rating. I’ll never trust them again. Leatherette chair had skinned arm. Owners should be embarrassed to rent this room.

I currently live here and will be until late February due to hubby’s job. This hotel has felt like home ever since we moved in. The room was clean when we arrived as well as the common areas such as the pool, balcony, and lobby. The room came with some things such as plates, silverware, and cookware which was nice because we only brought a few of each. They also have a locker downstairs that you can use full of handy things such as toasters, DVD player, card games, etc. The amenities are great and always working. The management is really great as well. We had a few issues which were immediately solved by September (the general manager) and she has continued to better the hotel since working here. The other front desk associates Shy, Carrie, and Anna have also been very helpful whenever we have needed anything and have made our stay wonderful. I highly recommend staying here especially if you’re going to be here long term. Plus make sure to sign up for the rewards so you get points & free nights 😇
