About this space*Click on our logo to book other container cabins on our property. This 4-season cabin has a master bedroom, electricity, indoor bathroom with a shower, heater, wood stove, mountain views, star-gazing patio, La Colombe coffee service, gas grill, kitchen, and fire ring. Warm in the winter and cool in the summer. It sits on 20 acres, two hours north of NYC. You can get to a hiking trail, Woodstock, Kingston, Saugerties or the Hudson River in 15 min. As seen in Dwell, CNN, AD, and Time. The space*Click on our logo image to book another cabin on our property."One of the best cabins we’ve rounded up from all across the U.S." - Architectural Digest, 2022"Top 12 in the Catskills" - Time Out, 2018-2023Cabin #4 was renovated in June 2023—now with twice the size, master bedroom, queen bed, and indoor bathroom...Staying in the 4-season "Field" shipping container is not like living in a house or a hotel room or a glamping tent. It is like living in the wild, except you are encased in high-efficiency insulated walls with giant low-energy windows—and sleeping on a comfortable queen-size bed with EVERGREEN STITCHES organic percale linens and a Nectar mattress. We provide La Colombe coffee service. You can watch shooting stars from bed. You will likely see a family of deer wandering through the woods while you make coffee. Our cabins are not like other tiny home compounds in the area that have dozens of units set 10 feet away from one another. Your cabin sits on its own stunning 5-acre parcel in the middle of an old-growth forest, slate ledges, streams and resident owls and deer.If it's cold outside (with the direct vent propane heater and wood stove it's always warm inside) we use the wood-fired sauna and lounge around drinking coffee. (You can book multiple 120-minute private sauna sessions, no extra charge.) If it's warm, we leave the three sliding glass doors open and lounge around the patio. (Lots of lounging...)There is a beautiful new tiled indoor bathroom with a shower. In the summer, there is also a clawfoot tub on the deck with hot and cold water for outdoor/off-grid soaking and showering. We have a full size sink in the cabin, with a foot pump and faucet for water. There is a propane stove and enough pots/pans/basics to cook whatever you want. There is no refrigerator; there is a cooler for your ice and perishables. (Yes, we have a coffee grinder.) The direct vent propane heater is easy to use and super warm. The wood stove stays warm all night too. In the summer, a breeze off the 3,100-foot mountain behind us keeps the container cool, and fire flies and crickets in the field will lull you to sleep.Staying in the cabin is an experience, not a simple overnight. There is something very special about it and this property. You won't want to go to sleep watching shooting stars from the deck on a summer night. On a 20-degree afternoon in the middle of a blizzard, it is 80 degrees and silent inside. Eight guests have gotten engaged here. (All said "yes!") Another guest chopped his bundle of wood into 1,000 toothpick-sized pieces thinking that the fire would burn longer and hotter that way. (It does not.)There are streams and cliffs and tons of wildlife on the property. Owls and red-shouldered hawks soar above the forest cabin, as well as fireflies in the summer. Deer graze in the field and woods and eagles visit now and then. This place was built for two, but it can fit four. Two adults and two kids is perfect. Larger groups can inquire about our other cabins. (Click on our logo to see them all.)The cabin site is on a truly gorgeous plot on the eastern edge of the Catskill Mountains. Our backyard is the flank of 3,655-foot Kaaterskill High Peak. It feels a bit like Maine, or Alaska. You can't see any neighbors from our property, but there are neighbors, great ones. (Please be courteous and respectful to them.)All guests are left with potable drinking water. There are lights in the cabin, outlets and USB charging ports—all solar powered. The new bathroom has a shower, vanity, mirror, light, and compost toilet. The Finnish wet sauna is a 5 minute walk away. (You can book multiple 120-minute private sessions, no extra charge.) Built in a 10-foot shipping container with a genuine Harvia Finnish sauna stove, it's pretty incredible. Shower and benches inside...Parking is 10 feet away. No smoking inside, plenty of room to smoke around the campfire outside...Cell service is good across the property - 2 bars LTE - but the steel walls of the container make it not so good in indoors. (Put your phone by the window.) The other cabins on the property are a good ways away. Each has its own driveway and plenty of private space to walk around. (We designed it that way.)Saugerties is a gem. Miss Lucy's (dinner), The Dutch (drinks), Circle W General Store (breakfast/lunch) Love Bites (breakfast) and Silvia or Red Onion (fancy!). Walking to the lighthouse is a must, as is hiking to Kaaterskill Falls, Huckleberry Point and North and South Lakes. Hunter Mountain is also 30 minutes away. Food shopping and farm stands are 10-15 min away.Guest accessThe cabin and field are all yours...Other things to noteAll guests bring ice. Firewood is available for purchase on the driveway. (Save your firewood for the wood stove inside; use wood from the forest for the campfire.)The new bathroom is indoors with a shower, vanity, mirror, light, and compost toilet. Our 4-season 40-foot container cabin is set on a stream and 20 acres of mountainside wilderness. Warm in the winter and cool in the summer...gaze at the stars from the deck, enjoy the Solo fire ring, La Colombe coffee, yoga platform, DIY wood-fired hot tub and hammock. The cabin is two hours north of NYC, with electricity, propane and wood heat and a compost toilet. Woodstock, Kingston, the Hudson River and hiking trails 15 min away."One of the best cabins we’ve rounded up from all across the U.S." - Architectural Digest, 2022"Top 12 in the Catskills" - Time Out, 2018-2023We took everything we learned building our 20-foot container cabins and incorporated it into our deluxe 40-foot container cabin. The 40-footer is a "high cube" container, with 9' 6" ceilings, household 110v electricity, La Colombe coffee service, a dedicated bedroom (with a door and room for a crib or luggage), indoor bathroom with shower, EVERGREEN STITCHES organic percale linens, and a beautiful deck overlooking it's own waterfall and stream. It is not like other tiny home compounds in the area that have dozens of units set 10 feet away from one another. It sits on its own stunning 5-acre parcel in the middle of an old-growth forest, slate ledges, a stream and resident owls and deer. The cabin is toasty in the winter with a propane Rinnai heater—in addition to the wood stove. There is a hammock and an adjacent promontory with a second fire ring and seating. The wood-fired hot tub is very DIY, but amazing once you get it going. The bathroom has a compost toilet and a shower. The sitting area in the cabin is elevated with an L-shaped Ikea Friheten sofa (bedroom has a traditional bed) opposite two contiguous 5'x5' windows to stare at the forest and wildlife. The writing desk is an original Mohonk House secretary. The sofa converts into a queen-size sofa bed, that we often leave out for maximum-lounging space.Staying in a 4-season container cabin is not like living in a house or a hotel room or a glamping tent. It is like living in the wild, except you are encased in high-efficiency insulated walls with giant low-energy windows—and sleeping on a comfortable bed. You can watch shooting stars from the living room. You will likely see a family of deer wandering through the woods while you make coffee. If it's cold outside (with the direct vent propane heater and wood stove it's always warm inside) we usually fire up the sauna and lounge around drinking coffee. (You can book multiple 120-minute private sauna sessions.) If it's warm, we leave the double doors open and lounge around the patio.Living in a container cabin is kind of like living on a boat in the middle of the woods. Our inspiration was to create an immersive wilderness experience with the comforts of home. There is solar power in the 40-footer with outlets throughout the cabin. The heater has a thermostat—set it and forget it. The bathroom is tiled and located inside the cabin. The wood stove has a glass door with ceramic baffles, reburners and a blower for maximum heat. High-efficiency insulated walls and low-energy windows keep the cabin warm in the winter and cool in the summer. There is a refrigerator with a freezer box. The bedroom is like a nature capsule with a 7'x7' picture window at the foot of the bed and a 7'x8' sliding glass door on the south wall.Staying in the cabin is an experience, not a simple overnight. On a 20-degree night in the middle of a blizzard, it is 80 degrees and silent inside. There are enough pots/pans/kitchen tools to cook whatever you want. (Yes, we have a coffee grinder.) There is a gas grill and a two burner propane cooktop in the kitchen. In the summer, a breeze off the 3,645-foot mountain behind us keeps the container cool, and the sound of the waterfall will put you to sleep. The cabin is cleaned immaculately after every stay, now using CDC disinfecting standards. It is set on a truly gorgeous 20-acre plot on the eastern edge of the Catskill Mountains. It feels a bit like Maine, or Alaska. You can't see any neighbors from our property, but there are neighbors, great ones. (Please be courteous and respectful to them.) We are on the side of Kaaterskill High Peak and have tons of wildlife on the property. (Listen for the barred owls at night!)All guests are left with 15 gallons of filtered potable drinking water. (The sink uses a foot pump.) There are drawers under the bed for clothes, room in the bedroom for a crib or pack-and-play, and a mudroom for jackets, shoes and backpacks. No smoking inside, please, plenty of room to smoke on the deck outside...We have a cell signal booster in the cabin, so service is good. The other 20-foot containers are divided by driveways and each are private. (We designed it that way.)Saugerties is a gem. Miss Lucy's (dinner), The Dutch (drinks), Circle W General Store (breakfast/lunch) Love Bites (breakfast) and Diamond Mills (fancy!). The newest addition to our unique and eclectic collection of getaways! This cozy, unique and romantic tiny cabin provides you all the comforts that will help you unwind and reconnect. The outdoor kitchen helps you feel like one with nature . The outdoor shower under the stars will surely make your heart skip a beat. Stargazing by the fire pit will make you long for the nights to never end. Memories are destined to be made here! Come back to nature...come back to yourself! This private romantic little Cabin set-up is situated in a little neighborhood surrounded by farmland. The one-of-a-kind Washburn Cabin is a huge step up from your typical camping experience. Set in a private little lot that makes you feel like you're in the woods yet you're just minutes from the best restaurants, shopping and quaint towns that the Hudson Valley has to offer. This air-conditioned/heated cabin is a sexy little getaway for two like no other! Boasting a memory foam mattress with lush bedding and comfy club chairs to ensure a completely relaxing getaway. The outdoor kitchen helps you to connect to nature as you brew your morning coffee! Sink with running water, k-cup coffee maker, mini-fridge, cooler and grill with side burner are just some of the amenities you will enjoy during your stay. You can comfortably enjoy your morning coffee and farm fresh egg breakfast on the covered outdoor kitchen deck on the two person table. Or head over by the fire pit with comfy adirondack chairs. A warm shower al fresco is sure to waken your senses and get you ready for a day of exploring in the Hudson Valley or simply staying put at the Cabin with your favorite book. You will have your own free off street parking spot. On the way to the cabin, you will see the porta-potty that is cleaned out weekly and sanitized between each guest. It is stocked with plenty of toilet paper, hand sanitizer, body wipes and sanitizing wipes! Our guests always rave that our porta-potty's are the cleanest they've ever seen. This getaway is perfect for those who are not convinced about camping in a tent just yet but are willing to test the waters in an actual cabin with windows, shades and a door! Nature is calling you but you'd rather sleep with the comfort of solid surroundings and air conditioning or heating. We get it! THIS is for you! So book your stay today....you will not regret it!When the temperatures drop, usually in November, we must turn off the water hose in order to preserve the hose and keep it from freezing. We provide water in 5 Gallon jugs for cleaning dishes and for personal hygiene. Please note, sometimes it gets so cold that the water freezes! During those times, we suggest bringing in water that you will use on a daily basis. We will provide you with a supply of paper plates, cups and plastic utensils! Water is typically turned back on in April. Unfortunately, we can't say exactly when in April as it truly depends on Mother Nature! Temperatures need to be above 40 degrees for multiple days before we can turn the water back on!While we are located in a neighborhood, cell phone service can be spotty. We personally have not had any issues. We hope that once you arrive at the cabin, you’ll settle in and realize that disconnecting will help you reconnect to yourself! **While we are a dog friendly property, we do charge a one-time pet fee of $50. We love our fur babies but it does take longer to clean after them and they cause more wear and tear! Please be sure to add them to your reservation. We reserve the right to limit size and amount of dogs per reservation*****Please note our Strict Cancellation Policy. We strongly recommend that you purchase trip insurance for your reservation!! There are many companies out there that will give you different options at affordable prices! Please do your research.***About pets:Pets allowed: dogs less than 50 lbs per pet (limit one pet total).About checkOut:Check out before 11:00 AM.About children:Children allowed: ages 0-17.About checkIn:Check in after 4:00 PM.About smoking:Smoking is not permitted.About minBookingAge:Minimum age to rent: 24.About events:No events allowed.

The original of our four 4-season shipping container cabins on our land — with a wood stove, sofa bed, kitchenette, La Colombe coffee service, record player, patio, shower, fire ring, yoga platform, and a hammock. It is off-grid, with a compost toilet and a sauna. It sits on 20 acres and is two hours north of NYC. Woodstock, Kingston, Saugerties, Catskill, the Hudson River and dozens of hiking trails are 15 minutes away."One of the best cabins we’ve rounded up from all across the U.S. " - Architectural Digest, 2022"Top 12 in the Catskills" - Time Out, 2018-2023We love weekending in our original 20-foot shipping container! It is not like living in a house or a hotel room or a glamping tent. It is not like other tiny home compounds with dozens of units set 10 feet away from one another. This is a family operation with four units, each on their own 5-acre parcel. Staying here is like camping on a stunningly beautiful and isolated site, except that you are encased in high-efficiency insulated walls and low-energy windows—and sleeping on a comfortable queen-size (Ikea Friheten) sofa bed with EVERGREEN STITCHES organic percale linens. If it's cold outside (with the heater and wood stove it's always warm inside) we usually leave the bed out, lounge around drinking coffee and steam in our Finnish sauna (built in a 10-foot container). (Book multiple 120-minute private sauna sessions, no extra charge.) If it's warm, we leave the double doors open and lounge around the patio. Lots of lounging...The kitchenette is fully equipped with a sink and a two-burner propane cooktop. There is no refrigerator; there is a cooler for your ice and perishables. There are enough pots/pans/basics to cook whatever you want. (Yes, we have a coffee grinder.) There is a grill for the fire and a propane grill, and we often cook there. The wood stove stays warm all night if you know how to build a fire. If you don't, you'll be up at 4am lighting it again. We leave you firestarter to make it a bit easier. In the summer, a breeze off 3,645-foot Kaaterskill High Peak keeps the container cool.Staying in the cabin is an experience, not a simple overnight. There is something very special about it and this property. On a 20-degree night in the middle of a blizzard, it is 80 degrees and silent inside. Eight guests have gotten engaged here. (All said "yes!") Another guest chopped his bundle of wood into 1,000 toothpick-sized pieces thinking that the fire would burn longer and hotter that way. (It does not.)There is a 20-foot tall slate ridge encasing the cabin. The hammock is perfect for reading and sleeping. The horseshoe pit is fun as hell; the record player is the bomb. This place was built for two. Or two and an infant. Larger groups can inquire about three other container cabins on the property, including a 40-footer. The cabin is set on a truly gorgeous 20-acre plot on the eastern edge of the Catskill Mountains. Our backyard is the flank of 3,645-foot Kaaterskill High Peak. It feels a bit like Maine, or Alaska. You can't see any neighbors from our property, but there are neighbors, great ones. (Please be courteous and respectful to them.) Listen for the owls at night! All guests are left with potable drinking water. Use the foot pump and you have running water. There are two overhead lights in the cabin and two camping lights. A new, zero-maintenance compost toilet is set in a small outbuilding surrounded by trees, thirty feet from the cabin. There is a shower there as well, though we recommend using the sauna shower in the winter. (Warmer!) There is not a lot of storage space in the container, so we usually pack light and leave the bulk of our stuff in the car, parking is 10 feet away. Just bring in the essentials, keep the place orderly and it's more comfortable. No smoking inside, plenty of room to smoke around the campfire outside...There is a Jackery battery pack/inverter for charging phones, etc. It's not enough juice to run a hairdryer, but plenty for your phones—and the record player! Cell service is pretty good across the property, but the steel walls of the container make it not so good indoors. (Put your phone by the window and use a headset or speakerphone.)The other three containers are set on the opposite side of the property. The driveway divides them and each are completely private. (We designed it that way.)Saugerties is a gem. Miss Lucy's (dinner), The Dutch (drinks), Circle W General Store (breakfast/lunch) Love Bites (breakfast) and Silvia or Good Night (fancy!). Walking to the lighthouse is a must, as is hiking to Kaaterskill Falls, Huckleberry Point and North and South Lakes. Hunter Mountain is also 30 minutes away. Food shopping and farm stands are 10-15 min away.Other things to noteAll guests bring ice and bundles of firewood. Firewood is available for purchase on the driveway. (Save your firewood for the wood stove inside; use wood from the forest for the campfire outside.)The bathroom is a separate building about 30 feet away. It has tons of natural light, a translucent roof and walls, pine paneling, an open shower stall with a slate floor. The shower is a simple camping-style battery-operated shower that you fill with hot water. (Heat it on the stove.) It takes some work fetching water, heating it and setting it up, so don't arrive expecting to have a shower right out of the car. There is also a mini propane heater in the bathroom for showering if you need it.About pets:Pets allowed: less than 50 lbs per pet (limit 2 pets total).About checkOut:Check out before 11:00 AM.About children:Children allowed: ages 0-17.About checkIn:Check in after 3:00 PM.About smoking:Smoking is not permitted.About minBookingAge:Minimum age to rent: 21.About events:No events allowed.
