Magnificent sunsets over Lake Superior's Big Bay. Our winter guests (cross-country skiers, snowshoers, hikers and those looking to curl up in a cozy cabin) will appreciate our plowed circle drive. We have a no-snowmobile policy at our cabin. We have nothing against snowmobilers, but we think our year-round neighbors might appreciate this. For the protection of our cleaning personnel and guests during the 2025 rental season, we've built in a one-day cushion between check-ins. Beautiful, two-bedroom cabin on Lighthouse Road in Big Bay, MI. As you walk in the front door you are greeted with spectacular views of Lake Superior through the living room bow window. Other custom windows bring in light and nature everywhere you turn. A custom-built circular staircase leads you up to the master bedroom with a king-size bed. You'll get spectacular views of Lake Superior from the Master Bedroom which includes a private bath and its own private deck. The downstairs bedroom has a full/full bunk bed. The upstairs loft provides additional views of Lake Superior, a cozy reading area, and with a queen sleeper sofa can double as a third bedroom. The cabin is well suited for four adults and two children.The cabin has a well-equipped modern kitchen with a gas stove, a dining room table with seating for six, and two full baths. The downstairs bath has a tub/shower with tile surround and the Master Bedroom bath has a shower with tile surround. The huge wrap-around deck includes a screened-in gazebo to keep you away from the bugs, a gas grill, and a food prep area. The cabin also has a newly installed two-zone air conditioning system, with an outdoor compressor, to keep you comfortable during hot/humid weather. “The Huron Mountains encompass the most wild and rugged territory in Michigan. It is a region of low, yet surprisingly rugged mountains, swamps, lakes, and high plateaus.” (Huron Mountains Summit Post) The Huron Mountain Range runs from the Marquette area north and west through Big Bay and beyond, and along with the sandstone cliffs of Salmon Trout Point provides a distant backdrop for sunsets over the bay. The large lot, 225’ of Lake Superior shoreline, gives you a wide-angle view of the bay to the west. Lake Superior has been telling her serene and rugged story for thousands of years, and each daily chapter (weather permitting) ends with a sunset over Salmon Trout Point. Every sunset you celebrate from Huron Horizons is one that has never been seen before and will never be seen again. Yes, they are that special.Make sure you set aside some time to explore Marquette during your stay. Marquette "Queen City of the North" is about a 30-minute, beautiful drive from Big Bay, and is perhaps the most picturesque city in Michigan. We're a little biased but we believe that to be true. Marquette has many wonderful shops and restaurants (our favorite being The Vierling which overlooks the Ore Dock and Marquette's beautiful Lower Harbor). While in Marquette we would also highly recommend visiting Presque Isle and allowing enough time to hike and explore this wonderful peninsula. The Marquette area provides tons of outdoor opportunities including year-round world-class mountain bike and cross-country ski trails.Here are some nearby attractions. Basement walks out into the newly redone patio w/ a large yard with a flat walk down to the beach/dock/lake area. Near the waters edge is a new double level patio with large fire pit with plenty of seating and a playhouse perfect for the kids! Large bean bag seating, 2 hanging rope chairs and sleeping loft for extra room to relax. The water has a shallow entry perfect for the littles and easy fishing off of the dock for hours of fun for all! Kayak out on one of the 2 included kayaks to one of the many islands within easy distance from home. Adjacent to the house to be completed spring of 2026 is a large golf chipping hole and putting green ! Head into Marquette (30 miles) or to Houghton (60 miles) for a day of Lake Superior/hiking/biking or enjoy one of the many delicious restaurants the area has to offer. Our cabin is 20 years old. It was built by the original owner who was a carpenter and the owner of a mill. His attention to detail and craftsmanship are over the top. If you appreciate woodwork you’ll love our cabin. Fishing on the lake offers pike, walleye, perch and bass to name a few. A couple of years ago someone caught a 47” inch pike (at least this is what I’m told.) Large luxury hand-built 7 bedroom custom home situated on 6 acres on the shores of Lake Michigamme. Large living areas can fit several families comfortably. Sleeps up to 20! Main level has beautiful master with lake views and soaking tub. Upstairs has 4 bedrooms and office with jack and jill baths/showers. The views are breathtaking from these rooms!!! Basement has 2 more bedrooms, 2 baths, a large media room, exercise room, sauna and a 2nd master and a bunk room. The home is all done with custom paint/ stone treatments, wood walls, beams, iron chandeliers and custom decor. It is opulent yet very comfortable and livable. The house lies on an amazing rock bluff overlooking the lake with arguably the best views of the lake! There is road access to the dock area as well as a gradually sloped walking path along the lake for guests of all ages. The dock lies off of a large stone patio with a built in fire-pit (for roasting hot dogs and smores!) as well as a large sand box for little ones who'd like to play. The dock is perfect for swimming (over 15 feet deep at the end) or fishing (we've caught perch, walleye, crappie, bass and pike). Or you are welcome to use our 2 ocean kayaks (untippable) to tour the waters. Take a paddle out to any of the nearby islands for a picnic! Make sure you get back to the house in time for the sunsets- because they are second-to-none! The whole house glows orange nearly every night as the sun sets directly out from the large floor to ceiling windows over looking the lake! They will take your breath away! Lakewood Lodge is a beautiful, spacious log cabin with four bedrooms and two full bathrooms. Wake up to views of Lake Superior across the street (no lake/beach access) and start your day on the Iron Ore Heritage Trail for biking, walking, hiking, and snowmobiling. The trail can be accessed on foot through the backyard, and snowmobiles can access it about 30 seconds down the street.
