Kilronan Castle Hotel & Spa

The hotel bar is in a state of disrepair, with furnishings that are worn and unkempt to the point where I felt uncomfortable sitting in the seating area. The chairs were visibly damaged, with noticeable rips, and appeared unclean, which falls short of the standards expected of a four-star hotel. In comparison, the decor and furnishings in areas such as the library and dungeon bar are markedly more refined, cleaner, and better maintained. While the staff were attentive and the atmosphere was generally relaxing, the condition of the bar’s furniture significantly detracted from the overall experience, and I believe it is an issue that should be addressed to maintain the hotel’s four-star rating. The food in the bar was good and rooms were ok again dusty and parts were grubby like the wall paper ripped on the wall and also cold. No bottled water only what appears to be tap water again not to a high standard that the hotel claims to uphold. First impressions are important and this to me was not a great first impression but could be easily fixed!

We just got home yesterday after a 2-night stay. Fantastic hotel, beautiful grounds and excellent staff. My Wife was unfortunately unwell the entire stay so special mention to Victor for the bedtime toast and Ann for the morning hot honey and lemon's. Thank you to Ann for the lovely note left at reception for us when checking out. Ann clearly loves her job and is a credit to this hotel. The Guinness was great and at €6 could not complain! I just wish I had a few more. We look forward to returning again in the future.

Relation of wedding couple, got 3 issues. 1. Late at night at bar bought drinks for table of a few friends. Got drinks and friend was helping me bring drinks to the table. Just before I was paying for the order I accidentally spilt bottle of elderberry juice and asked barman for second one and not to charge me. He nodded and I thought all was good, however, when I looked at receipt and asked him about it he ran out a door at left of the bar. 2. When we (my wife and I) went to checkout the next day receptionist told us system went down at 03:00 that morning and could she process all charges to the card we provided on check in. I said definately not as we needed to know exactly what we were going to be charged for. We had already had provided a €300 gift voucher on check in. 3. There were no shower caps in the room which was a bit of an inconvenience as my wife wanted to shower but not wet her hair. Spoke to assistant manager Mohammed and he said he only reimburse me for the second drink if I had the receipt. Seems like they don't understand the meaning of Customer service!!! What a strange set up for ‘casual dining’! Tables are basically in a walkway? It is located in the main thoroughfare of the hotel ..where everyone walks to access bedrooms, the function room & the spa. While eating, there was a constant stream of people passing our table in their robes leaving the spa area. The area is so open that it is particularly cold especially if you are seated anywhere near the step leading to the function room. One of my strangest dining experiences, having people parade by the tables in their robes ..not something you would experience in many other eateries

Booked Kilronan as a special treat for my wife, with fine dining and spa treatment. Fantastic value. However, due to the recent storm, electricity, internet were not available, so no special spa treatment. I was contacted in advance about the spa treatment, and was asked if I wished to cancel and/or rearrange. The hotel was running on a generator, and there was no internet service available. I decided to go ahead with the booking, hoping that the electricity would be reconnected. This, unfortunately, didn't happen, but I was not charged for the treatment. We arrived early, expecting to be informed that our room was not ready, but, happily, room was ready. And we were offered an upgrade to a Lake View Room. Splendid! Room was VERY comfortable, warm and airy. As I said, the spa was not available, but the leisure centre was, except for the jacuzzi. These two situations were totally out of the control of the hotel. Check-in was very easy and quick, and FRIENDLY! All staff are very friendly. The fine dining experience was exceptional. Our package included the 5 course meal, but for an extra fee, (very modest and well worth it!) we could choose the 8 course menu. Were we disappointed? Not in the least! Each course was explained by the waiting staff, service was flawless and efficient. The quality of the menu is absolutely superb! We were two very happy diners! Breakfast next morning was up to the same standard, buffet style, but there was the option to pick from the A la Carte. Service, again, was of the highest standard. Check-out was, again, very simple and straightforward. Apologies were offered, again, regarding the unavailability of the spa and internet, but these were totally outside of the hotel's control. Plenty of parking available. I highly recommend this hotel, and, in my humble opinion, this hotel deserves more than 4 stars.

Haciendo un Tour en coche por Irlanda, no queríamos dejar de pasar una noche en un castillo Hotel, y encontramos este que estaba en un entorno espectacular junto a un lago, con todas las comodidades de un Hotel de primera y el encanto de un castillo medieval con su mobiliario,, decoración y armaduras. Tiene un par de restaurantes y bares de muy alta calidad. Y el desayuno es magnífico. Hay rutas de senderismo por paisajes idílicos
