Lovely hotel . Highly recommend it. Got a very good deal. The food was excellent and the staff so efficient and helpful especially the lovely Mark. Spoke with Paul the chef and complimented him on his cooking and his very good brown bread..He went to kitchen and brought me out a brown soda bread. Such a lovely gesture. Will definitely be back..

The Castle Varagh Hotel is a lovely comfortable place to eat with a nice menu and plenty to choose from. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Our server Glen was such a lovely young man , very professional, warm and friendly, a great asset to the hotel . Will look forward to our next visit .

STUNNING!! Booked for a work event, was upgraded to a suite! The room is absolutely fabulous, so tastefully decorated, warm and clean. A lovely thank you and chocolate was also left in the room, staff are fantastic especially a young girl named Megan who was so helpful and pleasant. Would certainly recommend this hotel and would come back and stay again. Great value for money and a warm friendly environment

What a beautiful cosy and welcoming hotel , staff were very friendly and looked after us very well . Food was delicious both dinner and breakfast. We had a Lovley comfortable clean and cosy room . Margaret on receiption was very welcoming and we had a good laugh with her . She looked after us extremely well . Patrick you have done wonders with this hotel and we will definitely be back . Throughly enjoyed our stay with you . 5 stars all round . Annmarie and Justin Moore 😃

Went to this hotel today Dec 20th, meal with a close friend which had been her first time visiting. Food ok nice clean hotel. A group of girls obvious from the local secondary school, came in sat down and the lady whom I am to believe is the manger, with further inquiries I am told yes indeed she is the manager, this would in fact not be the first occasion of such! As she approached them, could tell by her demeanour she did not want them there. She then told the girls to go sit at the bar and they replied we are actually ordering food and then proceeded to, well I won’t say tell would rather say protested to them it better not be just chips your ordering! I nearly spat my food out! If this is your management team you see fit to run the floor, I for one shall not return.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were made feel extremely welcome. Ciara greeted us at reception, she was polite and very welcoming. The decor of the hotel is stunning. Our room had the finest bedding and high quality products in the bathroom. The food was stunning and amongst the highest standard of food I have eaten. Would highly recommend the steak served at Toms Bar, it was cooked and presented to perfection. Lunch was also amazing, very simple sandwiches but the BLT is served on very tasty sourdough bread. The breakfast menu is extensive. It is very obvious that the produce is locally sourced and again cooked and presented excellently. All staff we encountered were very helpful and pleasant. The local amenities were surprisingly plentiful and a must see. We can wait to return in Spring. This place is a real hidden gem. Well done all involved.

We arrived to see the hotel tastefully decorated for the Christmas Season with warm and inviting twinkling wreaths and Trees. A beautiful reception area with high ceilings with warm modern feel. We were greeted at reception with a smile and the fact we were early was not an issue. We sat and waited less than 10 minutes while accommodation confirmed they had our room ready, the early check in was very welcoming after our journey. We were signposted by the receptionist and the accommodation staff member. We were given all the usual but welcome information and dining options and breakfast. Our room was modern bright and comfortable, quality and unique soft furnishings giving the feel of a modern and not chain like feel. A truly well thought out decor. Bathroom bright and modern with large walk in shower and Quality toiletries. Hand lotion by the Irish handmade soap company was amazing to use. The bed and bedding of the highest quality and comfy. Food in the busy bar was epic, Brie and wings to start, chef’s special and Retro Carbonara for mains with Brownies and Pecan to finish. All the staff & the manager who personally spoke to us and checked on us are very warm and professional. Lovely local feel with that touch of modern class. We will return soon without a doubt. We commented that it’s been some time since we felt such hospitality and encountered food if such quality. Like the old days when hotel food was quality produce and nit widely available. The management and chef are obviously selective with their suppliers and the proof was in our pudding.

Beautifully refurbished hotel in a lovely Irish village. Good sized rooms with the comfiest king size beds. Fantastic service from all the staff. The restaurant on site serves delicious food and has a great atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

Had lunch with family in the bar today. Really disappointing from both food and service perspective. Asked for no gravy on lunch and it arrived with gravy. Had to return same. Tha potatoes on our three plates were terrible. We didn't eat them. They were mashed and were very greasy almost paste like. I had to go to the bar to ask if someone could bring a dessert as we waited over 30 minutes. There is a carvery here at weekends which is better. During the week the food is brought from the kitchen. Not at all as nice. Lunch is not cheap here....95 Euro for three of us. Three main courses two starters and two desserts. Have been here a few times but won't be returning.
