Residence Inn Indianapolis Carmel

I've stayed at this Residence Inn several times over the last few years, and it feels like a second home for me. Yes, the property needs some updating, but overall, it is adequate, and the staff is always helpful, friendly, and accommodating for my needs. A special thanks to Gilbert. All my basic needs were covered, for which I am grateful.

I have nothing but good things to say about our stay and the accommodations. For 2 years straight now we’ve had business in mid March in Carmel and used Residence Inn. The 2 bedroom, 2 bath set up is perfect for our needs. So the rooms are somewhat outdated so is Windsor Castle (being facetious), but that doesn’t make them any less accommodating and nice. Love the full kitchen as well so you can save money as opposed to eating out every day if you’re on an extended stay.

This hotel was filthy , smelled musty and the rooms furniture was all worn out ! The couch in the room had stains all over it , don’t waist your money . We are Bonvoy members and usually Marriott’s are clean and nice . Not this one ! Carmel is upscale and beautiful , the hotel needs to be closed .

Carmel is a beautiful town with beautiful people. I don’t understand how this filthy run down hotel exists here. The lobby is misleading in that, upon walking in, it’s extremely clean. You get to your room and it’s a complete nightmare. We had to switch rooms twice due to a window that would not close or lock and another that smelled of smoke and old food. There was also hair on the linen. The room we decided to stay in was not clean either. We had to totally wipe down and disinfect it ourselves in order to lessen the off smell it had. The floor had hair on it, the kitchen chairs, table and microwave were filthy, fingerprints and wall stains were everywhere, and there was a dirty towel hanging in the bathroom and once again we had a window that wouldn’t close or lock properly. The only thing good about this place was the close proximity to the event we attended, the free breakfast, and the wonderful staff, especially the young man at the front desk, who did his absolute best to accommodate us. He even made fresh cookies. There was also the wonderful maintenance guy who came immediately and fixed the window so it would lock. We actually felt awful about complaining because we know it’s not the staff’s fault. It’s totally the owner’s fault. When one reserves a room the expectation is it’ll be clean and refreshing. That’s not the case here. Stay elsewhere if you want to be comfortable and not afraid to touch things.

This was an unexceptional hotel and we choose it mainly because of location and the kitchenette. The hotel is definitely showing its age and could seriously use a facelift. It also was not super clean but it was OK. The breakfast service was poor. The coffee was never hot (we were there for 3 nights), the food was not replenished when it ran out...and I mean at 7:30 am, but on the plus side there was variety. If you are going to be staying because someone is in the hospital nearby I would recommend just for ease and having the kitchenette.

The only thing good about this hotel was the staff. Josephine and Katy are working so hard to try to help customers but, unfortunately, their hands are tied by whoever owns this location. 1. Handicap parking is the farthest away from the door. 2. Vans come frequently from various places – Republic airlines, FedX, etc. and completely block the ability to get to the front door without going over the curb. 3. The carpet through the hotel is stained and dirty. 4. Yesterday the juice machine was broken and not fixed for breakfast. Room: 1. Both tv’s are very old and the closed caption does not work except intermittently on the local stations – this was a problem for me as I am hard of hearing. 2. I travel all over the country with Marriott and always stay at Residence Inn – this is the only location where they are not using the Marriot portal for TV and still utilizing cable so there is no tv guide and very few options for TV shows. 3. There were no Microsoft bowls available for cooking in the Microwave. Josephine brought me cereal bowls which were way too small for cooking. 4. Pans are old, scratched and burnt so almost unusable 5. The ice maker in the fridge was not working and no ice buckets. Was given a small plastic bag which was unusable trying to hold the bag open and push the ice machine button. 6. Carpet was filthy and stained throughout the room 7. Wi-fi was slow and intermittent 8. The cabinet door under the sink would not close and was falling off 9. The top of the stove was horrible 10. There is a vent fan and light above the stove with an open fan (a big safety hazard) and no built in Microwave – it sits on the counter 11. Dishes were dirty and had to wash all of them. 12. One morning as I shut the door to leave for a conference the cover over the door lock fell off. 13. No maintenance available before 9:30 am and after 3 pm so I had to take a chance that no one could get in the room. 14. No hangars in the closets 15. The dresser in the room is so close to the end of the bed it is almost impossible to get through to the window.  16. The shower curtain rod was falling off the wall 17. Now for the worst part and I am sick over this issue – My last night I had turned off the lights to get ready for bed. I saw light coming from the bathroom. I went into the bathroom and there was a vent on the wall. There was no fan ever able to run in the bathroom. I stood up on the bathtub and looked into the vent (there was no fan) – it was completely open to the room next to me and I could hear people talking and was able to see into their shower and vanity area. I was sick! I am only 5’4” so imagine a customer who was 6’ they would be able to see completely into the shower and vanity area. Had I seen this earlier in the week I would have changed hotels immediately. As a Platinum Elite member, Marriott should be ashamed to have their name on this dump.

We stayed here on a last minute trip. The Residence Inn we stayed at last time in Indy was booked up. This one is definitely showing it's age and is due for a refresh. The staff member checking us in was kind and helpful. The hotel had a bit of an unfresh smell in the hallways. Our room was okay, but showed a lot of wear and tear. The TV's are small and not smart TV's. The coverlet on the bed was clean, but had holes in it right on the top in the middle! I was shocked that it was being used. The room was a little bit grubby looking overall. The fridge had dents all over it, the cabinets looked worn and scratched, stained chairs, just general heavy wear and tear everywhere. There was a fireplace in our room, which was cool, but it didn't work. The closet door was missing one of the sliding doors. The pool area was decent, my kids had fun playing there. I could see where there used to be a hot tub, but it was filled in, what a bummer. The room we had faced the highway and it was super noisy. I could barely sleep even with earplugs. The big trucks are so loud. I definitely recommend requesting a room that doesn't face the highway. The location of the hotel is within a short driving distance to several restaurants and stores. Breakfast was okay, it wasn't as quality or plentiful as many Residence Inns I've stayed in, but was acceptable. They had oatmeal, eggs, biscuits and gravy, waffles and other items. All in all, this Residence Inn was not up to what I think of as Residence Inn standards. I would recommend checking out one of the several other ones in the area. It is amazing to me that this hotel room was over $200 a night, I would expect something much nicer for that kind of money.

Where to begin? Do not stay here, just don't - its unbelievable that a hotel could be this terrible. The fridge and aircon were so loud, that I could barely hear the 20 year old TV over it. The toilet kept running and the flush was broken. The hot water did not get got. The shower curtain was broken - literally pulled out of the wall. The furniture, floors, everything was so aged/stained/damaged that I can't list them all. The room was near a highway, just heard trucks driving past constantly. Called reception to fix the fridge, they never turned up. Asked reception to clean the room twice, never turned up. All the staff are angry and disgruntled and don't want to help. The breakfast is a joke, prepare yourself for a paper bowl full of cereal and a plastic spoon. The best thing I could say about this place is that it was so terrible that it's actually funny and made a good story.

Stayed there last month and as a loyal Marriott traveler it pains me to write this, but this hotel is terrible. it is old, beaten up and is in need of a complete makeover. In addition to that, I checked in around 1:00, put some food and clothing in the room then left for some meetings. Came back around 6:00 to find another person in my room, eating my food. How does this happen? Evidently, my check-in was very completed and while the key worked for me to enter my room, the room itself was very blocked out for future check-ins. I was told it was a new employee that did not complete the checkin process completely. Regardless, the person in my room "claimed" he thought the food was a gift from the hotel. I never heard from a hotel manager which was quite frustrating. However, my review had nothing to do with this issue. The hotel is old and very weathered. The shower plumbing in my room was hanging out of the wall, the fitness center is an embarrassment and if you look carefully, the place needs painting and a general makeover. There are far too many better hotels in very close proximity to this one to stay here until it gets refreshed.
