This hotel just opened up in January 2023, an aspect that may work for and against the hotel, as I'll explain. My family stopped for one night on the way traveling back home from Florida; it's about seven hours from Orlando and 30-40 miles north of Atlanta. I've never actually stayed at a Fairfield Inn before but I'm a huge fan of Marriott properties. First the positives: the hotel was very clean and well furnished -- you can practically still smell the "newness." Our double queen room was comfortable for three people, and the just opened quality showed up in a few ways, such as the TV (larger than most I've had in comparable hotels) and the very modern shower -- perhaps the best hot water and pressure I've had during our multiple stay weeklong trip. The location is also excellent. Thanks to the large wall map in the lobby -- a nice touch! -- you can see what's nearby, and that includes a Publix and several restaurants within a short walking distance. The general area is safe and has a suburban/collegiate upscale feel. Lots of options to eat and grab things you need in several shopping areas close by. There is a hot breakfast (make your own waffles, scrambled eggs, etc.) that is included and was good quality, although the area to sit on a Saturday morning was busy and crowded. On the negative: the cost of the room for a Friday night stay felt more reflective of the newness of the hotel and its location than the actual value of the room, but given the time of year, likely the reality of the vacation season, as I struggled to find a decent hotel just north of Atlanta to book even several months in advance. The elevators require a room key to go up and down from any floor. You might find this a plus for security, but given the area, it seemed overkill and became quickly annoying with your hands full. Last but not least, the personnel seem to be as new as the hotel. When I arrive, a person who admittedly was in training checked me in. I asked for a late checkout, and the evening person wrote the request down (first sign of trouble). My spider-sense was tingling the next morning, so I went to the front desk to verify the late checkout was in the system. Surprise, it was not. (Upstairs, at that exact moment as I found out later, housekeeping was trying to get in our room.) The morning person put it in the system. As I walked away and tried the elevator, I had to return to the front desk again to get my room key functioning. But in fairness, the situation was easily rectified and in an friendly way. All in all, I would do some price comparisons for a good deal in nearby areas, but I would still recommend this hotel and would likely stay here again.
