Grand Staircase Inn

The owners are making this hotel look like it's open but they plan to trick you when you arrive!!! We drove to Cannonville (4 miles past Tropic) to find this mess of a hotel that's obviously been out of business for a very long time by all the tall weeds in the parking lot. (See pictures). We were given no heads up or email letting us know. Yes, I checked my spam. They tricked us. You have to drive to Cannonville, read a note, turn around and drive back to Tropic. We were disappointed with the hotel they transferred us to with small rooms, stinky, and our room backed up to a trailer park. The front desk at the new hotel acts like you haven't been inconvenienced and makes excuses about "recent" water problems at the hotel. The front desk clerk has been through this multiple times. You can tell by the apathetic look on her face and rehearsed excuses. It was too late and we had no other options at that point. I talked with some local business owners and they said these owners are shady. Book another place and not the Red Ledges Inn in Tropic which they want to transfer you.

Place was closed due to broken pipe no emails or notifications had to go there and a hand written note taped to the door redirected me to another motel drove back from were-we came to another motel xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Motel che dimostra gli anni. Per trovare dei ristoranti bisogna spostarsi nella vicina Tropic. Camere spaziose, ma molto vecchie e non si riesce e giudicare la pulizia del parquet. Per una notte se non si trova di meglio ci può stare.

Disappointing for the price. Yes a clean, comfortable bed, microwave and refrigerator. A very dirty recliner, no wash clothes, tissues, no drink glasses. (We requested washcloth but we’re told they’d had problems with people cleaning their muddy shoes with them. We did receive 2 well used wash clothes. The hall had baskets with a sign that said please use these rags to clean dirty shoes. There were no rags—-not that we needed them.) Outside trash barrel was over flowing for the entirety of our 2 day stay.

This is a great value option for those visiting Bryce Canyon or Escalante National Monument. We appreciated the fact we could stay for 2 nights for what we would have paid for just one night closer to Bryce. The room was large and had clearly been recently renovated. For dinner we recommend the pizza place in Tropic which is only a 5 minute drive away.

The hotel is quiet, clean, and comfortable; however, they do not have a coffee maker in the room. There is not anywhere to go to get coffee until someone opens the little store connected to the hotel—which did not happen until 8:35 am when we stayed there. Only yogurt, fruit, and toast were available for breakfast and it was a long way to drive to an open restaurant.
