Painter's Lodge

The hotel supposed to have a restaurant and pub but both were closed because the management was transferred to a new owner. It seems that the hotel does now longer belong to the Wyndham group. Upon check-in, the receptionist informed us that 'breakfast will be served in the hotel lounge". However, 'served' meant that a brown paper bag was handed over, and breakfast turned out to be a muffin, a candy bar, a box of juice and two manderins. They put a tiny coffee machine in the lounge so guests had to stand in line to make their own coffee. The answer to my complaint on checking out was that they couldn't get everything ready after transfer of management 4 weeks earlier. How hard can it be to organise a breakfast? Unacceptable!

Besitzer hat gewechselt, ist noch alles im Umbruch, ziemlich heruntergekommen und muffig, gebraucht. Bar und Restaurant waren leider geschlossen, Familien-Happy Hour war eine gute Sache, Morgenessen light auch. Umgebung und Lage Top!

We were surprised when arriving at this hotel to find it was quite rundown. Our room had a lovely view and a balcony looking over the ocean. We enjoyed our time staying there and watching the sea planes taking off and cruise ships passing by in the evening. The towels and bedding were very good and the room was very clean. However: The wood around the window frames was rotting although there had been new windows installed. The balcony was also rotting and the chairs were very old. The bathroom was clean but very dated. There also was no food available in the hotel as the restaurant had not opened as yet. As one of us is diabetic this could have been a problem. We could have used some help getting our suitcases up the stairs to our room but none was offered on arrival. There is a nice new swimming pool and the grounds are very pleasant. All in all Painters Lodge has great potential but needs a lot of refurbishment to get it up to a better standard.
