The cocktail experience with Kris was excellent. Guessing the ingredients and then making a signature cocktail. Great fun , especially as it was raining!

Stayed at this hotel many times. Always excellent. Great location excellent service. Will be returning next year Rooms are lovely. Pool area great next to the beach. Choice of restaurants. Lovely atmosphere. Can't wait to return

We had a fantastic 8 nights at this hotel with 5 star service, quality food and very comfortable accommodation. We will definitely return.

Rooms - wouldn’t say they were “suites” as described. Bedroom is very small as is the bathroom. Pool - you need to but up early to secure a bed around the pool, towels run out quickly too. Pool is small but pleasant enough Restaurant - we were half board and tried dinner once, not a good experience. The selection of food is poor and cold! On speaking to other guests they have also found the dining below standard. We did eat breakfast but again all the hot food is cold as is the coffee, you need to ask for it very hot. There is entertainment on the terrace at night not that we watched it but the noise does travel through the complex. Sadly I don’t think we will stay here again, we stayed at the sister hotel last year and that was so much better for rooms and food.

We travelled as a party of 3. We had 2 rooms at the Royal level (RL) hotel. 1. I was immediately concerned by the fact we needed a car to take us to our accommodation from reception. It turns out the RL hotel does not have its own reception. There is a section in the Castillo hotel that is for RL guests . It’s a good 10 min walk from RL site!The rooms were definitely not the quaint little bungalows I’d seen in the pictures before arriving, but 2nd floor rooms up steep stairs backing onto the main road and more important, the bottle bank! Non stop noise of smashing glass up to midnight and from 6am every day. Quite a way from the pool and restaurant as well. 2. The rooms inside were very spacious and kept spotlessly clean. Water replenished daily. 3. Food - breakfast was very nice. Just a shame we only got to sit outside once as only a couple of tables which could cater for 3. The evening food situation was extremely disappointing. So glad we only catered for half board. We don’t eat meat or fish. We only ended up eating at the RL Buffet on the night we arrived. It’s quite a small buffet with no real proper veggie proper e.g being lumps of roasted pumpkin… really! So unimaginative and with no other choices. The Castile and Mar hotel buffet’s were marginally better but still very poor options. The other restaurants you could visit advised us there was very little veggie choice. I was shocked a Mexican didn’t have any main veggie option. We ate at the Italian, La Dolce Vita on the last night but as we were half board we had to pay full price for everything (30% off if AI I understand). It was a lovely meal and I would recommend eating here. 4. Pool - sunbeds reserved from early morning. All you need on your holiday is to have to get up in the dark to reserve a bed. And walk 5 mins to get there, just so depressing! We haven’t experienced this in so many years at other hotels. Also, the pool was so cold and that was even with 30’ of heat we had one day. One plus, plenty of pool towels available. 5. Staff - breakfast people were lovely and helpful. I thought the bar staff were a bit rude. I also found the RL Reception weren’t very friendly either. 6. Last day - We had a late flight home so most of the day at the hotel. We arranged for our suitcases to be picked up at the reception the night before. They were taken to the castillo reception. There is a communal shower room just off the reception to shower before leaving. We didn’t use this in the end as it was a bit grubby. Plenty of people love this hotel. It just wasn’t for us . I think we were really unlucky with the rooms we were allocated and the food for veggies was an afterthought. I personally like to have the reception nearby as well and other hotels we have stayed at have always accommodated late check out so efficiently so we could relax before our flight. We didn’t enjoy that aspect at RL at all . It’s hard to believe from this review, but we are actually quite easy going people, but
