Gavimar la Mirada Hotel and Apartments

We are here at the moment and if we could afford to leave then we would! One night we had no water at all, so the toilet didn’t even flush!! We went to the reception and they offered no help or apologies. Another night we had no hot water, complained again and no apology was made. We are room only so didn’t get given a wristband, the restaurant manager came over and told us we had to leave the pool and questioned us infront of everyone saying we are wrong and we would of got given a wristband. He did this infront of lots of guests and offered no apology when we showed him our room card. There are so many better hotels and nicer staff so please go there. Amazing area but unpleasant hotel room and staff ruined our experience unfortunately.

The worst holiday ever. The room was nothing like the description, no cooking utensils or crockery, no microwave or toaster. We were all inc but the food was so disgusting, we could have saved some money cooking our own. However, when we first arrived the stench of sewage in the room was overpowering you wouldn’t want to cook or eat in there. When we complained, they sent the cleaner up with disinfectant which did mask the smell for a little while. When we returned to our room after dinner, the smell was there. We complained again, and this time we were offered another room, but that had the same problem. We had to endure this for a whole week, having to leave the windows open all day & night. The location was fine, plenty of shops & restaurants close by, but, it wasnt in Cala d’or. Again more money spent on taxi fares etc. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Je ne suis pas déçue de cet hôtel 3*, bien placé, jolie crique à deux minutes, petit train en face de l’hôtel, piscines fraîches mais propre, bonne nourriture pour un 3* j’ai trouvé très bien et même mieux que certains 5* que j’ai pu faire. À côté des rues avec restaurants, boutiques, jeux enfants… animation le soir à l’hôtel et personne très agréable et souriant ! Le point « négatif » serait la chambre qui mériterait un rafraîchissement.

This is a 3 star resort, for which I got a really good deal, and reviewed accordingly. It isn't somewhere I'd want to pay luxury prices for, but for our family of 4 we were happy with what we got for the price. The location is great, albeit it's Cala Egos not Cala D'Or as advertised. I don't care about that but I know some people do. It's 2 minutes from the nearest beach in one direction, 2 minutes from Cala Egos resort centre in the other. Also Es Forti is a 5 minute walk and well worth a look, especially at sunset. You get views of several calas. We went up a couple of times. We went in the May half term and the place wasn't quite full. A local shopkeeper told us it's incredibly busy in the area in July and August. May felt like the perfect time, busy enough to be buzzy but not so rammed that you can't move. Food was better than I'd expected for a 3 star AI and from some of the reviews. Not loads of choice, so that's evidently how they kept costs down, but we found what there was to be pretty good. Breakfast was the usual buffet. They always offer a grilled meat and grilled fish option, then also a cooked meat and cooked fish option. The bloke on the grill was really good and by the end of the week he knew what I liked! There were also multiple salad options each day. It did get repetitive by the end but that's AI for you and there's restaurants just round the corner for anyone wanting a change. The pool bar just has burgers and chips, so again a bit less choice than other places. I didn't eat a full meal there. It was annoying that when the ice lollies ran out, as they did virtually every afternoon, they didn't replace them even though the snack bar was open til 5. Staff were all really nice. They charge for hiring beach towels, so take your own. Or just get 3 for 10 Euros at the shop round the corner. The rooms were fine, not the biggest but ok, and clean. Cleaning and fresh towels available every day if you want it. We were AI so I can't speak to the self catering facilities. The tap water isn't sea water but it is salty. We found it fine to shower but you'll want bottled for drinking and tooth brushing. Spar sold 6 big bottles for under 5 Euro. I was curious to see how the cup thing worked in practice, and verdict is... annoying. I'd rather have paid a few more euros on the bill for them to employ a pot collector. The pool area is only open 10 til 6 and they did enforce that. It would've been nice if it could've stayed open a bit later, maybe 7, but I guess they probably just employ the 1 lifeguard for 8 hours and again, it's a 3 star. The pool was I think slightly heated. Not warm but warmer than I'd expected. There aren't a lot of sunbeds round the pool area, there's just not room, but they had two sun terraces which I thought were a good idea for people who like to lie out. The entertainment was a mixed bag. The staff were obviously working hard but it wasn't the best organised, and some of the things on the official schedu

Stayed here in May as a big family group, including my one year old. The positives: The location is really good right next to Cala egos and the beach. The food is also a good quality, but is repetitive. The hotel was pretty clean including the pools but it is dated. The negatives: I would not bring a child here again, the children’s pool is up some stairs some can’t access with the pram. The floor in the rooms is pretty slippy and the bathroom water goes very quickly from warm to boiling and back again. You need to rent a cup at the cost of 1euro which in theory is fine but it is just another thing to remember to bring your cups with you, and inconvenient if you were going to the loo from the pool you can’t swing by and get a drink without returning to the sunbed for your cup or you need to rent multiple cups to have a beer and water at the same time. The rooms need a bin in the kitchen as well as the bathroom. The water in the room (including bathroom tap) is salt water.

The hotel has a pleasant atmosphere and the food was actually quite good. However, there were several issues that really affected my experience. The first and most upsetting moment happened during an afternoon nap. A staff member knocked on the door, but before I could even get up to open it, they unlocked and entered the room. I was shocked and felt extremely uncomfortable. Then on the morning of my check-out, while I was still in the bathroom, housekeeping entered the room again without permission. This was completely unacceptable and left me very upset. While the hotel has its strengths, the lack of respect for guest privacy is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. Besides that, the bathroom water is considered tap water, and the bathwater is not well filtered, as it feels like bathing with seawater—salty and unpleasant. And upon check-in, you have to pay a tourist tax of 11 euros. My room number : 701 Ci/Co; 5-10 may 2025
