Hotel Astrid Caen Centre

A 2* no frills hotel, perfectly situated in the centre of Caen. If a night-cap drink or snack is wanted - no problem, take it in with you - a small supermarket is just over the road ! Our "Superior Double" room was spacious, with a large comfortable bed, excellent shower, separate lavatory, large table for breakfast etc. Room was spotlessly clean throughout our stay. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel has no breakfast room, but they will serve an excellent continental breakfast (9 euros extra pp) in your room if ordered the night before. This was truly a bonus to set us up for the day. Tram stop nearby was used to go to the railway station for a day trip to Bayeux and local buses abound. Possibly awkward for the elderly though as none of the rooms are on the ground floor. The cheapest way to travel from Caen airport is the number 3 bus, but you would have to alight at the Place de la Republique, just 10 minutes stroll from the hotel - not so good with bulky luggage.

Io e mio marito abbiamo soggiornato in questo hotel per una sola notte, trovandoci molto bene UBICAZIONE: A due passi dal centro storico, facilmente raggiungibile a piedi senza bisogno di spostare l'auto. L'ingresso è su una strada principale,con davanti parcheggi gratuiti di notte. SERVIZIO : Personale gentilissimo, che parla inglese. Purtroppo il palazzo non è fornito di ascensore e quindi abbiamo dovuto portare su le valige. CAMERA : La camera era abbastanza piccola, ma non claustrofobica. accanto alla porta c'era una piccola nicchia che serviva da appendiabiti, uno scrittoio e il letto comodo. La stanza appariva pulita oltre che recentemente ristrutturata. TV al plasma appesa davanti al letto (ovviamente solo canali francesi). La finestra si affacciava sulla strada principale (con di fronte un carrefour), ma era molto silenziosa sia di giorno che di notte Il BAGNO: davvero molto molto piccolo, ma per noi non è stato un problema. Recentemente rifatto e soprattutto fornito di finestra. Era fornito un piccolo necessaire con sapone e gel doccia shampoo. Phone alla parete che funzionava alla perfezione. Doccia con tendina larga quanto il bagno. RAPPORTO QUALITA' PREZZO :Noi abbiamo speso 76€ per una notte e mi è sembrato un ottimo prezzo per la qualità della camera. Non abbiamo fatto colazione in hotel anche perché veniva servita in camera in quanto non c'era un'area ristoro. GIUDIZIO COMPLESSIVO : A noi la struttura è piaciuta molto per al posizione e per la camera ristrutturata. Sicuramente lo consiglieremmo a chiunque purché non ci siano problemi di deambulazione, altrimenti fare le scale può essere un problema

A notre première visite ,l hôtel n était pas encore rénove . se fut avec une très grande surprise d avoir découvert un belle hôtel . Une chambre entièrement refait grande, moderne, claire , nous a été a ravir. l accueil fut comme d habitude excellente et très sympathique . bien sur le tarif reste plus que correct je vous conseille fortement cette hôtel

Piccola struttura a due stelle con buonissima proporzione qualità prezzo, stanze piccole ma a posto, c'è la vasca e non la doccia. Non c'è ascensore né possibilità di sala colazione. La posizione è buonissima centrale x visitare la città, il personale molto disponibile e cordiale, ci ha dato buoni consigli. Fermata bus x il memoriale vicinissima. Una buonissima esperienza.

Nice hotel, with some charm in a very good location to be able to walk to the main sites, resturants and shopping district. Close to the tram and bus hub around the corner makes it easy to get around to visit mueseums that are with the general area. Breakfast was good with warm crosisants, spreads, coffee delivered to your room. Staff were very helpful and friendly

the hotel is situated in the middle of Caen but for those who have a car there is no parking available and you need to either find a car park in town or park on the street outside. There are. few car parks near and parking is free between 7pm and 8.30am the following morning. The trick is to go out for the day, return late, find a parking space and pay at meter until the following morning. The staff were very helpful. Rooms were very basic with large beds and small alcoves at the bottom of the bed with a toilet and shower. The alcove is protected by a sliding door and there is a shower curtain. The shower itself can get quite hot and there is soap and shampoo available with plenty of towels. However, there are no tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms so you have to go outside, although there are cafes close by. Beds have those small pillows so if there are two of you sharing, it's one small pillow each, so it might not be too comfortable on your head. Surprisingly, there was an ongoing noise around the hotel, like people banging doors occasionally, which is sometimes annoying. However, it's not too bad and there are some lovely restaurants close by. For those with an interest in French food, "One Cutlllerf Carree" is a beautiful place. As you leave the front entrance, the restaurant is on the opposite side of the road and turn right as if to walk to the marina. Absolutely stunning and one of the best places in the city. Overall, it did the job and we had no trouble. The staff were very helpful throughout. Finally, remember you will have to pay a city tax of about 5 Euro's a night too.
