Mabamba Lodge

Really lovely lodge located in Entebbe I spent New Year’s Eve at Mabamba Lodge with a group of my friends. We were greeted with welcome drinks and a wonderful meal for dinner. I stayed in Shoebill cottage, it was beautiful and spacious. We enjoyed our time at the swimming pool and a really lovely breakfast spread before leaving back to Kampala. If you’re looking for a getaway from the busy city life in Kampala, Mabamba Lodge should be at the top of your list.

Spent 2 nights here. Totally chilled, fine food and excellent service. We swam and spent hours lounging on the beach. I hired a kayak and went bird watching on the lake both mornings. Even bought fresh fish from a fisherman in the lake. Paradise.

A short trip from Entebbe or Kampala, you’ll find yourself in the most beautiful, friendly and authentic lodge. I’ve never been so well looked after and well catered for. These guys really go beyond to ensure your comfort and experience. The birdwatching is a must. Even if you’re not into birds; the shoebill was captivating in all his glory. We encountered a shoebill within 30mins of the tour! The food was top quality, well presented, fresh and delicious. Not to mention they catered vegan food. I’ve never eaten clean and delicious food at the same time 🤣. I was taken back, and certainly will be back! The staff were very friendly and professional. Really great guys. Thank you Mabamba Lodge

Excellent experience that we never have! Really friendly and helpful staffs and they do anything best on your behalf. During our stay, they arrange river side breakfast and bonfire dinner, all that for free, we can feel that what the staffs wants is our best experience! Thank you for your hospitality ! Besides, the lodge is very beautiful view we can spot a lot of birds just walking around the lodge, the location is great which is right near the lake, it’s very convenient to access any tour departures from the lakeside. We will definitely return in the future!

We spent four days at Marbamba Lodge in mid-October and we loved it. It was the perfect refuge after two days at another lodge on Sese Island that was absolutely not our thing. Too loud, too much hustle and bustle, no peace. The days at Marbamba Lodge were the perfect recovery after two weeks of beautiful but also strenuous safari through Uganda. Located directly on the shore of Lake Victoria, you can spend your days listening to the chirping of birds in the middle of a beautiful, garden and further in jungle like area. The bungalows are very tastefully decorated, have a small terrace and access to a small garden with either a hammock or other seating. Overall, the whole lodge is beautifully equipped and designed and even when it rains you can find a little cozy spot for yourself somewhere. You can watch beautiful birds everywhere and lie on the beach on very comfortable mattresses protected from the sun with colorful towels and just relax. If you want, you can take a guided trip to the nearby swamp area and even meet a shoebill, among many other unusual birds! There aren't many left, but the chance there is very, very high. The food is fantastic and the staff are just incredibly friendly and sweet. Thanks to Josefine, Joanne, Jack and Kenneth for making this experience so very special. At the end of the stay, we were able to help make the lodge even more beautiful by planting our own tree, like other tourists before us. There will soon be a swimming pool further back in the jungle, which will certainly be beautiful. Overall, Mabamba is absolutely unique and a true gem on the shores of Lake Victoria.

Stayed at Mabamba Lodge a few weeks ago and loved it. The cottage, the meals (best in our entire tour), the staff, Kenneth, Josephine and everyone else, all excellent. If you are at all interested in spotting Shoebills there is no better place to base yourself, and now with the much improved ferry to/from Entebbe it makes even more sense to stay there for a couple of nights. We´ll be back next time, thanks Carlos and Maria
