The Speckled Hen Inn B&B

My wife and I celebrated our 9th anniversary at the Speckled Hen in October of 2024. We stayed there when we got engaged and have been back a few times in between. We think the Speckled Hen is the best Bed and Breakfast there is. The hosts, Tom and Heather, are wonderful people. They are accommodating, friendly, professional, experienced and always have a smile and their faces. The rooms are always very comfortable and clean. The food is so good, we wish we could stay for more. The property has a nice walking path and they have a variety of animals outside that are fun to interact with. The Inn is so close to so many attractions it makes for a great getaway. We highly recommend the Speckled Hen.

We stay at B/B inns, always. The Speckled Hen will be a memorable stay of you. Caring and kind innkeepers, personalized breakfasts, stunning views, comfortable and spacious rooms and, of course, the fun animals make this B/B a must visit. Don't settle for less.

My wife & I stayed at The Speckled Hen Inn for the 3rd time, and we enjoyed the hospitality & relaxation & rural beauty just as much as our previous visits. The innkeepers Heather & Tom are both very friendly, and they engage respectfully with all guests while giving them freedom for privacy & access to relax around the property indoors & out. Heather's homemade breakfasts have always been a special treat for us, and we're happy to report that her new feature of daily pre-order breakfast menus live up to her consistently high quality & delicious creations. The menus are packed with variety - with options for dietary restrictions - and our range of choices over our three mornings were all flavorful & satisfying. And not to be overlooked, Tom’s table service and his polite but inquisitive conversation always make the morning meal a positive & memorable experience. We've stayed in the Token Creek Room for each of our stays, an affordable entry floor guest space with a king bed and plenty of floor room & clothing storage. It also has a modified Pullman-style ensuite with dual-head walk-in shower & separate jetted tub beyond the toilet & sink area. The bedroom has an armchair and a window seat, and the large window offers a view of the paddocks where the innkeepers' sheep & their lambs plus the resident llama & horse graze and laze about according to their prevailing needs (familiar behavior to retirees like us). We will not hesitate to return to Speckled Hen Inn on future travels to the Madison area, and we highly recommend this B&B property to other travelers for its comfort & its seclusion & its wonderful innkeepers.

Very relaxing setting, incredibly soft sheets, and an amazing breakfast experience! The animals were a definite plus, would definitely recommend! :-) Easy drive to down town and a quick trip to the airport. Wish we had been there to see all the trees changing colors.

The Speckled Hen Inn is lovely and relaxing! The grounds are quaint and Heather and Tom are consummate hosts. If you are seeking to stay somewhere quiet and cozy, this is the place. And breakfast is phenomenal - Heather is an amazing chef and it was one of the highlights of our stay.

We traveled with a group of 3 other couples for a 2 day bike trip outing at the Speckled Hen Inn. We were greeted by Tom and Heather who had already made arrangements for our e-Bikes storage and recharging. We were then given a tour of the home so each couple could pick a room that best suited their needs. Our rooms were impeccably clean and comfortable (including special bed sheets and towels that were luxurious and soft). Each couple filled out a menu for our breakfast the next day with multiple choices of their home grown produce and eggs. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained and we walked around the property with amazement visiting with their horse, llama, sheep, goat and chickens. The fire pit was amazing and well stocked. Our every need was met including the fresh cooked cookies which were in our rooms on arrival. We can highly recommend this bed and breakfast as one of the best we have ever stayed. There were literally no negatives to this well maintained and presented location and a warm friendliness not often encountered. We will definitely return.

Our stay at the Speckled Hen Inn could not have been better. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was inviting and delicious. Location is perfect since you are close to town but far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet with the farm animals. Tom & Heather will make you feel right at home as soon as you step in the door. Highly recommend!

The Speckled Hen Inn is in a lovely rural setting, and has comfortable, nicely decorated rooms. The breakfasts were not only delicious, but were made with fresh and healthy ingredients. The hosts were very helpful and knowledgeable about things to do in the area. We and our friends had a wonderful experience at the Inn.

Beautiful inn, kind and generous innkeepers, and (wow!) some luxurious bedding. Felt taken care of while at the same time savoring the quiet and sense of privacy. The wines are well-selected (great cabernet) and the welcome cheese & fruit platter we ordered was wonderful (warm baguette too!) Thank you for creating the backdrop for our celebration.
