Spa needs a bit of an update and deep clean. Staff great

Our room was lovely and clean with excellent bedding and towels. The spa is well worth a visit one of the best we have tried in recent months and the staff 1st class. Plenty of car parking but the reception make a note of my registration in case of damage in the large car park, apart from that highly recommended.

Two nights in a "luxury" balcony room to celebrate my birthday. We received a warm welcome from Jordan on reception. He acknowledged that it was a birthday celebration, but during our stay nothing else was said or done to recognise this despite discovering on checkout that birthday guests usually receive a complimentary chocolate treat in their room. Unfortunately, the room was not up to expectations. With no air-conditioning or way of controlling the heating, the room was uncomfortably hot. We resorted to leaving the balcony door open both nights for some air. The fan provided wasn't quiet enough. Also, there was a small fridge standing on the dressing table which we had to switch off at night due to noise. The retro radio provided had a broken aerial and needed a good clean. The box containing just 3 tissues hadn't been checked and restocked. The dated bathroom had only 1 partly full toilet roll, limited toiletries and mould and scale on the bath, shower screen and shower head. Bathrobes were well worn and one was stained. Jordan was able to sort some of these issues for us. **Note no slippers provided, so bring flip flops if using the pool. The pool was OK, but the tiles around the water level looked like they could do with a good scrub. The changing rooms are due to be refurbished and male showers were out of use with parcel tape securing the loose tiles on a pillar. The poolside shower was cold. Breakfast good, bar area cosy, staff friendly. We received 20% reduction on our bill in recognition of these issues.

A very well run hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Our room was of a very good size and serviced to a good standard. The bar and lounge areas are cosy and comfortable and the pool area, well maintained and clean. Breakfasts were delicious and the hotel is in a perfect location for walks and sightseeing in The New Forest.

Very nice hotel. Staff were polite and smartly dressed. The room had everything needed. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was very nice. We walked into Brockenhurst which has a few independent shops. We came across a pop up coffee shop with some nice cakes and good drink selection. Overall this was a nice stop over at Balmer Lawn hotel.
