Oakwell Guest House

Liz & Chris made us feel welcomed the moment we arrived. Out room was clean and spacious with everything we needed and we had a lovely comfortable night's sleep. Breakfast was fab and was obvious that fresh local produce is used. The guest house is really handy for all amenities within the town. We will be back! Thank you!

BED BUGS and the poorest customer service DONT STAY! I stayed at Oakwell with my two elderly parents and my son. As reviews have stated there were cables hanging down and a not so clean porch area and was then greeted by a dishevelled man without a warm welcome. The room seemed clean except the bin for teabags had mils stains on it. As the evening progressed I found a bug on the bed and then another and used Google to identify them as bed bugs. We then found more crawling across and under the duvet and sheets - tiny ones barely visible and big ones the size of apple pips. we filmed them and photographed them. The man was not apologetic and did not try to resolve the situation. He refused to admit there was an issue and blamed me for opening a window (in the bathroom which I didn't do). I had to get my 85 year old mum out of bed and changed and get us all out of the property and to try to find another one at 11pm at night. I asked for a refund and the man lied and said I had not paid yet and has since refused to refund me the £181 paid.

We stayed for a single night on our visit to Brid, we were welcomed very politely and although we arrived early check in wasn’t a problem Chris was very accommodating. The room was very comfortable and had the usual tea coffee etc it also had a mini fridge and Chris gave us milk so that we could have a brew. The nights sleep was good the room is spacious and we also had a large en suite the bed was comfortable too. Breakfast was spot on good tasty items and cooked to perfection even the poached eggs ticked all the boxes. The hosts even took time out after breakfast to have a friendly chat about how the world works for half hour, before time was up and we had to leave. All in all a great guest house great hosts. This will be our home the next time we visit Brid without doubt.

Great experience. Warm welcome could leave my bag earlier in the day. Returned around teatime to a clean and comfy bed and great breakfast whats not to love. Not far from train station or centre either. Would definitely recommend anyone to stay.

Lovely place to stay. Really comfy and clean rooms. Lovely couple that own it made us feel welcome and had lots of time for us not rushed at all. Fantastic breakfast. One of the best B and B's we've stayed in. Can't recommend them enough. We'll definitely be back.

What can I say,from first meeting Chris and Elizabeth the stay was perfect they are the most professional and caring hosts,nothing was a trouble to them ,my room was perfect,shower bed etc,and the breakfast set you up for the day,I was on golfing holiday and that must have helped because I won.so all I can say is many thanks till next time
