Vacationland Inn & Suites

We have stayed here a few times. Very affordable, and a great location if you are visiting the area. Short drive from Bangor. Very close to many shops and restaurants. Staff is friendly, and the room was very clean. AC worked very well and the bed was comfortable. The only challenge was that my wife and I stayed in the building at the back of the property, and we found it quite challenging to wheel in our suitcases. This place also has one of the better free breakfasts that I have seen.

The room was ok,not near what was expected, dingy ,a lot of full time residences.would not stay again. A lot of animals barking. Pictures had a fire place not existed. Hallway was dirty, curtains had a rip a d were well worn.If I hadn't pre paid we wouldn't have stayed

It's worth it for the 1 night stay..Definitely could use some deep cleaning and updates..But beds are comfortable and convenient to the Maine Savings Amphitheater..Would stay again..We are staying in the back building Maine Coast Inn.There is a fridge,an iron and board if needed in the room..And free ice dispenser.

I was expecting a total dump based on previous reviews, so I was surprised that it wasn't IMHO. There's plenty of deferred maintenance issues but overall for the money it was fine for a night. No amenities except for the continental breakfast but at this price point I wasn't expecting much. Came for a concert and the shuttle was a bonus!

My husband and I stayed here for one night. Our original room smelled like smoke. The room also had several cigarette butts outside. The hotel has a policy of no smoking. We were moved to a different room. The room was old and worn out. The color scheme in the bathroom was hideous. I pressed an incorrect button on the remote, and the TV settings were in Español. It took 15 minutes to figure out how to finally get it back to the channels. There is no bathtub stopper. The hot water was lukewarm in the evening. They offer a breakfast in the morning with a few options.

My room was immaculately clean if ready for an "update". The breakfast was very good, made on location by Inn staff, and the dining space was comfortable. For the price the accommodation was excellent, much better than I had hoped. I would happily stay here again.

We stayed here for our fist time, as we visit Bangor many times a year but decided to stay in Brewer this time and try out this place. We decided to book the King suite with Spa room, as it came with carpeted floors, fireplace and hot tub(its middle of winter here so), closet along with other things specifically listed on the room description. The rooms are dated as is the whole building. It is in ok shape, but the walls are paper thin..we could hear the whole convo next door of the guests as they hung out in the hot tub for hours. The doors are a inch plus off the floor..so ALL the sound from hallways comes in. it took 20 minutes to get hot water every time...they have signs everywhere stating that..after you check in and pay of course! Who wants to wait 20 minutes for hot water when wanting a shower or to fill the hot tub? There must be a school bus stop in the middle of the parking lot..as we saw kids getting on and off the school bus, playing in the parking lot..not sure if they live in the hotel or.. The room had NO fireplace, NO closet, NO carpet as stated in the booking. I didn't want to complain or make a fuss about it but I thought I would follow up with the hotel after my stay to explain the situation. There was NO call back. Very rude and inconsiderate of management to say the least. I also reached out to the booking company I used and they said they could get no resolution form the hotel as well. So Vacationland mislead with their room description, charged me for a room I didn't get...didn't give me what I signed up and paid for..and then couldn't even care enough to call me back about it. DANGER!!!! Get any other hotel but do not book here. It’s basically a homeless shelter. The first room we were sent to was occupied by someone who was in the filthy trash filled room. We went back to the front desk and the receptionist moved us to another room after getting authorization from her manager. Back to another room and upon entering could tell that the locks had been tampered with and the door barely closed. There was also a door to an adjoining room that was in the locked position but it didn’t close securely, the opposing door was also able to be opened and we could enter that room. Again down to the front desk to get a refund and go someplace else for the night. The ever so helpful manager took :30 minutes to come down to process a refund which took another :15 minutes. Talk about poor customer service the manager never even addressed us or the situation. This is the dumpiest place I’ve ever been, so glad we are going somewhere else for the night.

We live in Canada - roughly 3 hours from Bangor, Maine - and have been going to Bangor since the mid-1970's for shopping and a getaway. This was our first visit to Bangor in five years. Covid had a big impact on our travel plans. Before that, we had numerous stays at the Vacationland Inn and kept coming back. Some of the recent reviews made us wonder but we do not regret our recent stay and would gladly return. We saw NO EVIDENCE of some of the complaints a couple of reviews raised (eg. did not see people drinking outside or making noise after dark and we had a parking lot drive up room in the “old” part, walked through the parking lot from a nearby restaurant after dark). The room could use an upgrade BUT, for what we paid for a warm room with a comfortable bed and working bathroom, breakfast included waffles – you put the batter in the waffle maker, took it out when cooked, has blueberry and raspberry sauce + whipped cream ALONG WITH OTHER FOOD CHOICES etc. VRS PAYING $$ MORE AT A FANCIER SPOT, we were SATISFIED! Please, consider the price when reading a review. IF YOU WANT A MODERN, SNAZZY ROOM, IT COMES WITH A PRICE MUCH HIGHER! BAD REVIEWS DON'T ALWAYS MEAN “BAD”. It could mean the reviewer expected filet mignon at a hamburg price. And ALL the staff we dealt with (front desk, breakfast room, worker who came to our room to explain the tv setup) were helpful, friendly and polite. The location is great. Minutes away from a Super Walmart, Mardens, Dollar Tree, drug store, grocery store and really close access to a 4 lane highway to get to and from many of Bangor's shopping areas. With the $$ we saved by staying at the Vacationland Inn, we had a GREAT DINNER at the Coach House restaurant right next door. I think reviews are generally very helpful but some require perspective. We stayed at the Vacationland Inn numerous times over the years. Nothing we saw or heard would prevent a future stay.
