"We arrived late after a long day travelling and checked into the hotel approximately 22:30. The hotel is situated on a side street on one side and overlooks the river on the other side. Arriving anywhere at night can be off putting and I wasn’t quite sure of the area at first. From the minute you step inside you can sense the stylishness of the hotel. We had two rooms booked next to each other (22 & 23). Unfortunately 23 had a noxious smell and we asked to change. We were given another room on the 4th floor. Unfortunately the window was open and it blew in some foliage over the bed and night stand. The receptionist took it upon himself to vacuum it but didn’t do a good job so I had to complain. We both further cleaned the room and then everything was ok. Room 22 overlooked the river & was very nice and spacious. Room 47 had a bath in the room which didn’t make it feel so spacious but still a good sized double room. Towels were of good quality, thick and substantial. Toilet paper was good quality as were the toiletries. The shower tends to wet the floor as it is a cubicle with no door. The duvet was quite warm for this time of year. And the pillows weren’t great. Too soft. The presence of large studio lamps in the rooms were unnecessary and took up too much space. And both my husband and I agreed that the the shelving unit that encompasses the bed is rather dangerous with its sharp corners at eye level when you are sleeping. It may be good to have a few cms taken off the shelf. You can see from photos what i mean. We didn’t eat in the hotel and chose to walk along the riverbank to the old square approx 10mins away. The daylight provides a different atmosphere and it is quite a nice area with bars and restaurants nearby. Overall, despite our initial problems we did like the hotel and agreed that we would stay again. We were pleased that the staff were competent enough to make a decision regarding changing our room and took our problems on board."
