The Five Bells Inn

Wow, what an incredible place to stay. Circa 1530 so lots of exposed timbers and large fireplaces. All the staff are friendly and polite and an asset to the place. Lots of gardens to sit and while away time with a drink or two. Evening meals are varied, well presented and tasty. The breakfast is to behold, full English was outstanding and very filling. Thanks for a lovely stay, one which we hope to repeat.

We stayed one night and loved it. Loved the service, ambience and general feel of the place. Rooms were gorgeous and cosy and breakfast was fab! Hope to be back!

What a brilliant little gem. My husband booked without me knowing. Fabulous room with copper bath and sinks. This Inn is almost 500 years old with lots of quirky features mixed with modern but it works. Attention to detail was impressive. Lovely touches like complementary port as well as tea, coffee and water. Beautful linens and bathrobes. Excellent staff in the restaurant. Lovely outside seating area too.

Absolutely lovely stay at this hotel. The manager was super friendly and couldn’t do enough for us, all the staff were the same actually. Breakfast was spot on, as was the evening meal. The room (ortega) was fabulous! Made use of the beautiful bath and luxury toiletries. No tv in the room but that doesn’t matter! It was a haven to relax, chat and unwind. We will Definately be back! We stayed for one night in the Golding room. From the moment we arrived the staff were welcoming, friendly and professional. We were shown our room which was beautiful, clean and with a perfect shower room. We had dinner which was exceptional and they kindly brought us the cheese board to our room. Room well equipped. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. A lot of care and attention has gone into detail at this place, combined with great food, value for money and staff, this place is a winner. Will be coming back

1st class from start to finish, checked in to our room around 6.40pm the wooden fire had been lit, what a wonderful welcoming. Breakfast 10/10

Having stayed here numerous times before we knew what to expect. Great open fire, lovely food. Staff are friendly & attentive. We had two rooms, Ortega & Bacchus. Both lovely large rooms. Stayed in all rooms before & all rooms are lovely. Breakfast is lovely too.

A truly magical pub and B&B. We originally stayed at the five bells for our wedding and recently revisited for an anniversary trip. The rooms are beautifully designed giving a perfect balance of quirky country pub but with a luxurious feel. All the little extras like port in your room just make it feel very special despite not being the most expensive place to stay. The staff trip over themselves to be helpful at all hours and are extremely friendly, especially on the day of our wedding. Last but not least the bar and restaurant is to die for, cosy and meticulously decorated with a superb selection of beers, wines and gins. The food is worth the trip any night of the week with almost everything locally sourced. The full English breakfast is second to none. Thank you to all the staff who make it such a wonderful place to stay, eat and drink. We’ll be returning for many years to come!

We stayed at The Five Bells as we were meeting friends in Dover, which is not far away - we wanted a friendly country pub to stay in. It's an excellent place to stay, with a great restaurant, a good wine list and plenty of draft beers. we would describe the place as shabby chic with a touch of rustic with open wood fires and romantic. The Five Bells is in the middle of a very very small quaint village, in the middle of nowhere, but is popular as it was quite busy on the nights we stayed - you need to book if you just want dinner. The staff were excellent, particularly the lady who took and served breakfast . We stayed there for two nights and the rooms were nice and you're even given a small decanter of port as a compliment, there's two carparks so no issues parking - the only drawback was our room 'Golding' which unfortunately had the kitchen extractor right out side the window and which was operating 24/7 and is quite noisy - I'm a light sleeper, so this kept me awake. The pub said it knew of the issue and was looking for a fix, but check first as there's only 4 rooms - So if you stay at The Five Bells, which I recommend, ensure that you don't stay in 'Golding' at the moment ................... oh and one final point, there's no TV's in you room, so take a good book or a tablet to watch TV!
