I recently stayed at Lagrange Vacances Roc Belle Face, and my experience was deeply disappointing due to their unfair and deceptive deposit policies. Upon checkout, the company attempted to deduct €180 from our deposit for cleaning fees—a charge that was never disclosed before or during our stay. At no point in the booking process were we informed that cleaning was not included, nor were we told that failing to clean the apartment ourselves would result in a hefty penalty. This was only introduced after we had already left, making it clear that they were imposing an arbitrary charge after the fact. When we disputed the fee, Lagrange Vacances refused to engage in any meaningful discussion, instead responding with dismissive and condescending emails. Their so-called justification? That we should have somehow assumed cleaning wasn’t included—despite no prior mention of this anywhere in our booking confirmation. Their response completely disregarded French consumer protection laws, which require all fees to be disclosed upfront. Beyond the lack of transparency, the cleaning charges themselves were excessive and unjustified. They attempted to charge €80 x2 for “kitchen and apartment cleaning” and €20 for “bin disposal”—fees that were never mentioned before, and which amount to nothing more than an opportunistic money grab. This experience has left me with zero trust in Lagrange Vacances, and I strongly warn other travelers to avoid booking with them. If you do, be prepared for hidden charges, poor customer service, and a complete disregard for fair business practices. I will be escalating this matter to French consumer authorities (DGCCRF) to ensure others don’t fall victim to the same deceptive tactics. Since when have you had to clean a HOTEL room???
