Lion Hotel Borovets

Our second stay at this hotel and over all we would recommend staying here. The hotel is set in a quiet area approximately 15 min walk from the centre of Borovets and the ski lifts. There is a regular shuttle bus which drops off & collects guests from the town centre adjacent to the Gondola station. We stayed on a half board basis & found the food to be perfectly adequate. Drinks are included with the evening meal which is a nice bonus. The swimming pool and spa area is also a great asset. Rooms are a bit 'tired' but apparently are going to be refurbished this year. Hopefully the thin curtains will be replaced with black out ones as the light shining through did disturb our sleep. Another small improvement would be to provide tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms although I believe kettles can be borrowed from reception.

We stayed in a family room which was spacious and had a kettle and small fridge which was a great addition. We all sleep very well and enjoyed the food which was always very tasty. The pool and spa were also good, and a lovely way to relax after a busy day in the slopes. The bus was great too.

Just back from a week at the Lion. Fantastic staff throughout. Food was varied, hot and delicious. Shuttle buses worked really well in the morning especially and made a big difference to our stay with 2 boys with tired legs morning and after skiing. Never had to wait more then 2 mins for a shuttle bus. Rooms really spacious and warm. So nice to be away from the dreadful apres ski music in the main resort and in the quiet forest. Third time staying here and it really made our week feel luxurious thank you x

This is the second time we've stayed here and we'll definitely be back! The reception area and restaurant has had a revamp since our last visit and it looked great! The food was very good - something to please everyone. The shuttle bus to the slopes was very regular, with 2 buses running in the morning. If you wish, you can do the 10-15 minutes walk instead. They are planning to refurbish the rooms after the winter season, and to be honest, this was the only reason I didn't score it as a 5 as the rooms are getting a bit tired.

This is the second time I have been to the Hotel lion for skiing. I have enjoyed this hotel on both occasions, however I feel I need to write a review to thank the staff within the hotel. The bedrooms are great, nice and warm and spacious (important for a ski holiday). The restaurant is a good size and need to thank the chefs, there is always a good selection of food for breakfast and dinner, even if you're a fussy eater. I also have to thank Alexander, the pleasant gentleman, who works on the bar in the restaurant, always working with a smile. The bar in the main lobby is fantastic with the fire and plenty of seated area for watching the football. I also feel the pool area, and spa are fantastic too, with many areas free for guests. I feel this place is a hidden gem in borovets, whilst being outside of the town, you never feel too far out. It's about a 15 minute walk to the centre, but there is a shuttle every day from 8-6pm, with a double shuttle working in the morning, you never really had to wait for it if you don't want to walk.

This hotel exceeded expectations, the food was great ! Every night was something different and good amount of choice and always presented well. The rooms are simple but beds are comfortable and wifi was good. We didn't know where the steam room was but the sauna and pool are nice ! It's nice to chill in the evening in the lobby, pool and ping pong available to play for a small charge. It took us 10 minutes to walk to the resort but there is a pretty forest walk through a park area which is longer but worth it in the evening to go Franco's for the quiz or bingo on a Tuesday.
