Plas Dinas Country House

We booked 3 rooms at Plas Dinas Country House under the impression there was a family wedding taking place at the venue. I had multiple conversations with staff over the months — even discussing the evening meals and the schedule for the day — and was repeatedly reassured that they were aware of the wedding, had been to planning meetings for it, and were fully prepared. It turns out, there was no wedding scheduled there at all. The real issue? I had mistakenly booked Plas Dinas instead of Plas Dinah — an easy and understandable error. But I had booked 3 months in advance. The staff knew all along that no such event was happening at their venue, and instead of clarifying the confusion or reaching out, they chose to stay quiet and only informed me the night before — far too late to cancel or get a refund. I feel completely misled. They knowingly let me proceed with the booking under false pretences, which resulted in a £1,000 loss for rooms I didn’t need. No refund was offered, no accountability taken. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable — I would strongly advise others to be cautious.

We visited Plas Dinas for a 70th birthday cream tea. Beautiful surroundings and pleasant staff. The afternoon tea was disappointing, however. A long time to get served despite there being no-one else there. Packet clotted cream was set out on every table. After finishing the tea I asked what the packet of clotted cream was for. They said is was for scones which they hurriedly brought out . We had finished the tea by then and were ready to leave. I said we would take the scones with us. They quickly gave the scones to another table and packed up some scones for us in a cardboard box. We tried them later in the evening and found them to be stale and certainly not homemade. What a disappointment for a special occasion!

We have previously stayed at Plas Dinas and loved our experience so much we wanted to return with my parents to sample the Snowdon Afternoon Tea. Everything about our visit was fantastic; a warm welcome on arrival, Bentley (our little pooch) was embraced too & had his own floor place with a blanket and treats, in a beautiful, relaxed setting, sumptuous food washed down with thirst quenching Welsh pink fizz! We had a fairly bland eater amongst our group which wasn’t an issue when adapting some of the items on the menu, which was most appreciated. We were seated in the dining/lounge area as opposed to the Gunroom due to Bentley joining us, and this was perfect. For the hearing impaired member of our group, this was more than ideal as it was only us in the room! It really was an unforgettable visit; thank you to all that looked after us :)

We only stayed one night and had absolutely flawless service. Everyone we met was slightly eccentric, full of character and shared brilliant local information. Daniel, the owner sorted out a very small problem very quickly and we enjoyed an incredible peaceful night in the lovely cottage rooms. After climbing the Snowdon in the day, - we were supper hungry and the dinner that night really was wonderful. Presented beautifully and utterly delicious. Would highly recommend.

Fabulous couple of days celebrating my wife's birthday, outstanding from start to finish . All the staff brilliant big shout out for Liam and owner Daniel who is a great host . We stayed in the Lady Buckley room which was beautiful and helpful for us as it was on the ground floor. The food was simply superb, review elsewhere.

The experience starts as you meander up the drive and get your first glimpse of the grounds and the house: quite lovely. We arrived after a long day of touring and driving, and after a fast check in, were ushered into the main lounge for a pot of tea. People were there for afternoon tea which we didn’t have, but it looked delicious and it meant the lounge had a nice chatty vibe to it. We did a quick tour of the grounds and loved the blue bells and wild garlic behind the house. We stayed in the Major and the room is very well appointed - we would recommend reading the information on the size of beds as 4’ 6” was tight and that’s on me. It is quiet and you are guaranteed a quiet night. Dinner is excellent and we opted for the 7.30 drink/canape/8pm start instead of 5.30/6, which meant that as we sat in the lounge, some of the earlier diners were retiring to the lounge which again meant it was full, which gave it a nice vibe. The Gunroom is small and intimate and quite lovely. All of the 8 courses were beautifully cooked and none of the portions were too large, meaning you didn’t fear being able to eat and enjoy it all. The wine list is excellent in breadth, quality and price - we had two halve bottles. Retired to the lounge for coffee which we had to ourselves. You could happily sit in the sofas and read a book or just relax. Breakfast was delicious - do fill in the form the night before to save time - and the choice is good and the quality excellent. A mention to the team who look after you: helpful, attentive but not bothering you, and have got the service level spot on. Different teams naturally from afternoon/evening service to morning, but the same high standard. In summary, we really enjoyed our visit and highly highly recommend here. We would go back just to experience a different seasonal menu, and just to chill out. But will choose a room with a slightly bigger bed 😃
