Warning. This is a two star hotel masquerading as a four star. I have no idea why this is rated so highly. This is also not a new hotel. It looks very old, tired and shabby. I booked three nights. First room was 2 twin beds (solo traveller), a view from the window of a wall, no safe in the room. The scuff marks on the wall, definitely needed a paint job. Just didn’t have a good feeling. I informed the staff I would be checking out and I would pay them for that evening, but would be going elsewhere. They showed me a larger room with a king size bed, safe in the room, one of which was broken, but it did have a view. Unfortunately, the room was that much closer to where the hotel was hosting a wedding. After returning from dinner, the music from the wedding was so loud. I realize that there was no way to sleep through that. So once again, I informed them I would be checking out. They showed me a third room. A suite with a separate living room on the other side of the building, suggesting that it would be quieter. It was not. I’m a little puzzled why I was not given a room at the very beginning that was on a quieter side of a hotel in their opinion. The staff encountered in this ordeal, were very polite and seemed very determined to find a solution. Almost to the point of begging me to stay. Sometimes with all the goodwill in the world you can’t change reality. This is my first negative experience in India in the 11 days I’ve been here. It’s unfortunate that it had to happen in the land of enlightenment. I tried to negotiate full refund, but they insisted I pay the one night which I did and moved to Hyatt place. You get what you pay for.
