Koro's land is great. There are some areas in the middle which are a bit dull (lots of mopane bush) but they have many gorgeous kopies and the stretch of land along the Limpopo River is truly exceptional. I also loved my tent: It was very nicely appointed, of generous proportions, and had lots of privacy. I greatly enjoyed sitting on my deck, looking at the river, reading a good book, and observing the diverse bird life. I also thought the rest of the lodge was quite stylish. Staff was very friendly and, on some of the days, I had my own guide and tracker who went on bush walks with me, which I really appreciated. So why am I not giving it a higher score? Mainly because service was just lacking in the little things. For example: They told me that I should not drink the tap water, so I asked that some drinking water just be placed in my room (something pretty much all lodges do). I kept asking, but it never happend. The first couple of days they asked me what drink I would like for my sundowners, then they stopped and just brought me some canned "juice" I didn't like. There were no tissues anywhere in the lodge. When I asked for some at dinner, I was given a role of toilet paper at the dinner table. An other example was that there was a "gift shop" in the lobby, but many item's were just randomly thrown on the shelves, looking for like an almost-empty storage room. Not very welcoming. The food was consistently mediocre, sometimes worse. I especially found the snacks provided early in the morning and on drives/walks quite disappointing - mostly rusks from the supermarket, a lot of peanuts and potato crisps. Once there were some cashew nuts, which I appreciated. Finally, compared to most other bush regions I have travelled to, I saw relatively little wildlife. Once we tracked a leopard on foot, which I cherished. We also saw elephant on various occasions. Other highlights were a couple of civets, bat-eared foxes, and one porcupine. Beyond that, it was only antelope, zebra, giraffe, hyena over a period of 7 days.
