Best Western Big Spring I requested a 1st floor room and extra bath towels. Upon arrival, they had and honored that request. A big plus in my opinion. Front entrance way and lobby is large, clean and provides a welcoming atmosphere. Trash bags in garbage cans. I like it. Active versus passive vent fan in the bathroom. I love having those but you don’t see many nowadays. Bright light over the shower/tub. Very nice. The square light over the sink wasn’t as bright. Above the bathroom mirror, the was an open junction box that was not covered. This seems like an oversight on the part of the maintenance crew. (Rm 112) The shower head had plenty of flow-pattern choices (very nice), but the water volume or pressure was pretty poor. Always take me longer to soap up, wash, and rinse; so I’m running the water much longer than is desirable in these drought days. (Maybe due to an ongoing renovation) Lots of ports for charging mobile devices. Lots of control over the heating and cooling. The HVAC system allows the fan to stay on even when compressor is not running. My wife and I both like that. But I think it only works on A/C not heat. Clean. Sofa Chair with a hassock. Great for relaxing. The mattress was very comfortable. Not to soft, not to firm. The pillow rating, like the mattress, is always very personal. They were quite large and I thought I would hate them, but my head sunk down on them just right. I actually liked them. Breakfast area was smaller than some comparable hotels, but sufficient enough. It wasn’t too crowded the morning we were there. Plenty of food choices and quality napkins, but the scrambled eggs were not what I call scrambled eggs, more like egg pancake patties. Not so much my thing. Room 112 is right next to the elevator. When used, there will be some rumbling/humming noise. Could be unacceptable for some guests.
