We had a great stay. Hotel is walking distance to clean sandy beach. Several pools in the place. Spa was great. Food delicious. Welcoming drink was lemon with lemongrass. It was so delicious that we ordered it again on dinner. Room was made up twice. It was clean and spotless. I booked a room with private pool

We have just had a wonderful stay at The Villa - it’s a return trip after many years and it’s better than ever. The staff are excellent, as is the food. The Bawa designed property with its unique location by the train tracks, on a white sand beach, is a must stay on any trip to Sri Lanka.

Five star, elegantly civilised experience. From the moment we entered the gates and were welcomed with a big smile by the guard, I felt welcomed, cared for and at home in the stunning surroundings. The service was faultless. A boutique hotel where every detail, from the iced water by the pool. The limited rooms, the proximity to the most stunning beach and the excellent breakfast, well made cocktails and beautiful artwork and utterly architectural digest worthy chic decor. I could have stayed for far longer and will be back. Also, the spa… I had a Ayurvedic massage by a lady who was spectacular. Best I’ve ever had. Thank you to the whole team for creating a little paradise.

This hotel was a great find. The buildings and grounds are beautiful. The room was spacious and a nice touch was the towel peacock that welcomed us. The food was tasty and the service friendly and efficient. As with most properties in the area the railway runs nearby which was a concern until we realised that they trains are not frequent and did not disturb out sleep. Exiting the rear of the property you can cross the railway line and be on the beach in minutes - that is if the grounds and two swimming pools are not enough for you.

We held our two day wedding at the villa bentota in february 2025. it was everything we ever dreamed. whilst the venue is obviously stunning and had enough rooms for our immediate family as well as different landscapes for different events (lawn, mangroves, beach), the standouts were the staff - everyone was so friendly, warm, welcoming and approachable from the planning stage through to the clean up and aftermath. they really looked after us and we were a considerable crowd of 140 people! kalpa in particular was our point of contact throughout and he along with chamodh, the new food and beverage lead and chef were excellent. i should also mention the food and drink - we wanted a completely sri lankan menu and sent them a proposed menu which included buffet, sit down meal, canapes and cocktails - they blew us out the water regarding our requests (including my mum who is hard to impress!). the food was delicious as well as authentic for our international guests and interesting and different for our sri lankan guests. the chef and his team are truly talented and we are so so so happy we chose kk for our wedding venue. they - along with Hemant Dadlani wedding planners - helped to bring our dream wedding to life and showcase the best of Sri Lanka - people, food, drink, music. thankyou!

The Villa Bentota, designed by the man who built the parliament building, is lovely hotel. It is set in superbly maintained grounds, with a super pool. It is a short step from a glorious beach. After 2 weeks touring we ended our holiday with 3 nights at this cool hotel with great service.
