Medplaya Hotel Riviera - Adults Recommended

Check in well organised with several people arriving at same time. We arrived on a very wet Sunday and first impressions were that we had arrived at an Old people's home. The lounge looked and felt very much like a lounge of any care home. Although mid 60's ourselves we felt younger. The bedroom was very spacious with a huge very comfortable bed. Bathroom had twin sinks. Towels changed on request. All areas are kept soplessly clean. Staff all very friendly. Plenty of choice at breakfast and evening meals. Evening entertainment fair. Lovely views over Marina with stunning sun rises.

The bed is not that comfortable, pillows are ok, bed sheets a bit scratchy, not as soft as I would like. Biggest bug bear was that the lift to the promenade was broken. Broken from the day I arrived (other guests said it was broken for a few days at that stage) and wasnt fixed till 10 days later. My bad knees did nto like the 80 steps to get to the promenade. I secifically booked this hotel for its location and lift, as someone with mobility issues, so this was hugely disappointing. We had bad weather for majority of our visit and that does damper things but if the lift had worked I would have no complaint. I have lodged a complaint with TUI, surely nowadays a two week delay to get a part is not acceptable. Perhaps keep spares or pay for next day delivery. Patio furniture is old and tired. Room has a good kettle and hairdryer. Stingy on the coffee in the room. Apart from day 1, supply was never topped up. Water bottle never supplied, after day one, during our stay either. Nice bottle of win supplied to room on day one. We had room 303, nice view but constantly in the shade. Would have preferred a sunny patio as we paid extra for a sea view room. If you want a sunny balcony this is not the room to have. Staff were all friendly and approachable. Food was very good , a few odd dishes were strange, but there is so much choice, there is always something to eat. I do agree with someone elses review, the plates do have a feel of not being cleaned correctly. Would suggest adding salt to the dishwasher, but if they are being washed by hand, then someone is not washing them properly. I also had about four occassions when my glass at dinner had lipstick on it, and I had to ask for a new glass. So perhaps if the Manager is reading this review, please speak with the dishwashing team, action is required.

The hotel is right next to the beach. We had a lovely room on the 8th floor with great views. The hotel has a spa with indoor pool and an outside pool is also available. The food is good and is self serviced. The hotel is central to the resort with restaurants and pubs across the way. The bus service is excellent...but make sure you buy a card for cheap travel

This was the worst holiday we have had for a long time, there were a few good points but overwhelmingly the bad points were the ones that ruined our stay. We arrived at the hotel and check in was smooth the welcome was ok and the reception area is well presented. We were given a room on the ground floor just off reception which was convenient for the facilities. On arrival the room smelt fresh and appeared to be clean so far so good, but unfortunately it all went downhill after that but before I go into that I would like to applaud the cleaners and waiters for doing a good job, however this is where my praise ends. This hotel is nowhere near as good as the other TUI Blu hotels that we have stayed in and in my opinion is damaging the TUI Blu name. The hotel should address the hygiene in the restaurant as time after time at breakfast and dinner we were picking up plates that had not been washed properly there was bits of dried food on what was supposed to be clean plates, and on the backs of some; there was also water in some cereal bowls. I commented that they needed a new dishwasher and was told by one of the staff that the washing up is done by hand surely this is not usual or hygienic for a hotel. We were eating breakfast and dinner every day in this restaurant and by Friday night I began to feel unwell and on Saturday morning I was taken to hospital with gastroenteritis where I remained for the next 24 hours. I cannot categorially say that I caught this from the hotel obviously but at lunchtime that day my husband and I ate the same thing and he was fine so the odds are that I caught a bug in the hotel restaurant. Other items that need addressing are the hard beds, the broken lift to the promenade, the very low water pressure and broken dirty balcony furniture. Other guests said that the hotel is not the same standard that it once was and they would not be returning, neither will we.

My wife and I together with our friend stayed again at this hotel for a week on the 2nd March. We had an enjoyable week despite the weather. Our friend had a great single room overlooking the beach and was very comfortable. We had a view on the bill bill side on the 3rd floor and was very comfortable. The water pressure could be better but we managed. I requested the use of an iron and it came very quickly. The food in the hotel was very good and Pepe (very tasty) did a great job with eggs etc. The donuts for breakfast are fantastic. We found the staff in all departments very friendly. We would certainly stay there again. The hotel is in a great are and it suited all our needs. Gracias, Until we meet again.

Tired hotel. Lunchtime food appalling and expensive . Cocktails expensive and not true sicklhbsweet or over citrus. .evening foof poor and not hot .will definitely not be returning going back to benidorm. Hotel staff do not take criticism at all
