River Forest Inn

Our experience was horrible. We booked a room with 2 queen beds and a kitchenette. Upon check in we were put in a room with 1 bed and kitchenette. We went back to the front office to have the room corrected and the woman tried to argue telling me the room she put us in had two beds. After several minutes of back and forth she finally switched us rooms, this time 2 beds no kitchenette. It was the end of a long day so we weren't going to argue that further but the room windows did NOT lock, one was open when we got there, the curtains were transparent, there was a cockroach, and the shower had fuzzy mold in it. When we went back down to the office to bring these issues to their attention and request a refund the woman still tried to argue that we were wrong. We had to walk her to the room to show her the problems. She finally acknowledged them but then refused to ussue a refund. We contacted ******* who reached out to the property and were told they would issue a refund the next day. Over a week later there was no refund issued. We tried to contact the hotel but their phone lines were down. Reached back out to ******* who was also unable to reach the property. Eventually, we were able to reach the mananager who explained he's been on vacation for a week but that no manager has been present at the property since he's been gone and nobody else could authorize the refund. That in itself is baffling to me but the complete lack of communication was unacceptable!

Dont stay here Room is not clean and smelled like cigarette smoke bugs on the walls. Sheets are torn. No extra pillows. No lights work or missing lights bulbs. I understand being a cheap hotel not to expect much but I will not be staying here again.

States in description they are a four star property. Two would be pushing it. It's kind of a strange little place, saw a few sketchy people about, think they rent weekly but no issues with anyone. King room was spacious but oddly no desk, table, or any chairs in room, had to bring in camping chairs from car. Fridge and microwave tho, and the staff was very nice. Could probably do better for the price.

This is the first time that I had to write a review the rooms are old and dirty as walking in we discovered they had roaches in the fridge and some around the room, The beds are old and worn out. in the room for 15 minutes we realized we could not stay there. We checked in and out on Friday we had planned to stay the weekend. I informed the front desk of the problem and they told me they couldn’t spray the room. I informed them that we were checking out on Friday and they still proceeded to charge me for two nights. management owners don’t reply to this message because you didn’t have time to call back, to discuss the disgusting situation.
