Shaka Caye All Inclusive Resort

This place is beautiful, so peaceful and all the staff is extremely nice. They take care of you like you are their own family! The drinks were great, and the chef made delicious food! Would highly recommend coming here! Peaceful is an understatement!

This resort is beautiful. The staff are excellent and make your stay a personalized experience. The food is high-end and prepared by a very talented chef and sous chef. The rooms are great. Setting up excursions are very simple and the staff keeps you informed of your schedule. We can't wait to come back.

The absolute BEST getaway you can plan! If you are lucky enough to find this island, you MUST come experience it! This was my second visit here, and the first was 6 years ago prior to a renovation and change in ownership. I came with a group of friends then and always wanted to share it with my family. It was even better than my memories, thanks to amazing staff and island updates. Our teenage girls kept saying...is this real life? are we in a real life travel brochure?! And the adult's that came along, were just as impressed! From planning our visit to our sad goodbyes leaving the island, each staff member played a role in making our trip perfect. Veronica made booking easy, and Daisy helped keep our daily memory making at Shaka Caye the very best. We loved our new bartender friends, Obie and Percy, as they made us the best drinks whenever we needed them. Our food was honestly the best we have had all-inclusive. We were blown away by the taste and service every time we were served. Thank you, Roddy and Michael and the amazing chefs! We had a fabulous excursion to a nearby caye for exploring, shopping, tarpon feeding, sea horse viewing and nurse shark watching with Andre as our captain. Edwin also helped us on and off the island with his great boating navigation. Our cottages were cleaned so well every day by Judy and if you love a good massage, you must visit Tiff in the spa. Lastly, Glenda, the manager, works so well with staff and visitors to create a picture perfect stay! Book the trip if you love hidden treasures and i bet you will be back too!!!

We felt pampered and relaxed on this friendly little island. Michael seemed to be everywhere; fixing our drinks at the central bar, bringing us the late afternoon snack of the day or an impromptu drink, serving us breakfast, lunch, and dinner with his friendly smile, and always offering to take a sunset photo on the restaurant deck. We then met the server Evalyn who is also very friendly and kind. Percy treated us to his special bar creations. Three of us took the afternoon boat trip with Andre and the other boat captain to Gallow's point. This was a great afternoon outing. We probably snorkeled45-60 min total, but saw rays, spotted eagle rays, a feisty eel!, some lobsters,and even a turtle. Andre spent lots of time trying to find manatees (and we did see one quickly surface. ) He and my son dove in when we came upon some dolphins and the dolphins gave them an unforgettable experience, coming super close and showcasing their flips. The food at the resort was delicious. As vegetarian, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I had a variety of vegetarian dishes - no repeats, and I liked them all. The desserts were fabulous, especially the blueberry cheesecake and key lime pie (and I don't usually go for these desserts!) My biggest frustration, and the reason I am giving the resort 4 stars, is the pricing policies and website information are misleading and confusing. For example, the snorkel trip was listed one place at $50/person and another at $75/person, and neither mentioned that all resort activities are upcharged 25% to cover "taxes and resort fees". I was not expecting the vacation to be quite so expensive, and in conversations with other guests, I am not alone in my feelings. We reserved two beachfront one-bedrooms at nearly $800/night each. What I wasn't expecting was a random $200 "all-inclusive charge" for each room and over a thousand dollars in taxes and resort fees for just four nights. I've never stayed at an all-inclusive resort, so perhaps this is typical, but I was not expecting it. On top of this, it was very unclear what was included in "all inclusive". Some information emailed to me seemed to say that beer and wine was not included, however, some information on the website mentioned that local beers and local cocktails were included. We were charged for bottles of wine at dinner (as expected) but enjoyed Belikin beer, cocktails with vodka and rum, a fridge full of sodas and snacks, and frozen drinks as part of the all-inclusive package. The descriptions of some of the excursions also drove me batty before the vacation. There would be a description such as a "two-hour adventure from 9:30-10. " The list of excursion options I was sent after booking the rooms listed a half-day excursion with a specified price that was exactly the same as full-day excursion with a higher price, and when I inquired about the difference, I was told there was only the full-day option. Our stay was absolutely wonderful! Once you arrive in Belize City, you are chartered to a marina (15 min) then taken by boat (30 min) to the island. You are greeted by staff immediately with cocktails waiting for you. The stay is intimate… you are 1 of 32 max guests on an island. (During our stay there were maybe 15 guests total at one time). Which means it is easy to schedule all activities on a whim. We as novice did reef fishing, kayaking in the ocean, reef snorkeling! All meals and an afternoon “bar snack” are provided with an open bar for your enjoyment. The staff are amazing and cater to your every need while giving you the privacy to enjoy your vacation. All were great but specifically Andre, Obi, Glinda, Daisy, Reddy, Michael, Percy, Evelyn treated us like family. Would love to return!
