Landgasthof Winbeck

A lovely family run inn with some Buts…The food is good, typical of southern Bavarian cooking. Breakfasts are excellent. The flies, at this time of year, both in the restaurant and outside, are dreadful. The hotel supplies fly swats and fly wire on most windows. The bedrooms are clean and the beds are comfortable but if you are under the roof, there are no fans to keep the air circulating. The main road noise is very loud, especially in the morning. We asked, because we are staying for 6 days, to use a washing machine, but were given the address of a laundry company 5km away. We asked to use the iron, as we are here for a family wedding at Schloss Kleeberg. The lovely old granny said yes and showed my husband very kindly. He started to iron. 10 minutes later a very angry and rude family member marched in shouting Nein nein and pulled out the iron plug! My husband wanted to leave the hotel immediately, but we would have had to pay a fine, as did some of our family members when they left early due to flies, road noise and a boiling room with no fly wire (but a good fly swat). The staff do work incredibly hard. Granny and Grandpa win prizes for charm. The other family staff are delightful to all their German guests but appear to have struggled to show any smiles to us. We really made efforts to speak German. Luckily we have beautiful family from this area, so we will return, but never to here. That is a real shame!
