We traveled as a group during March Break, and I wanted to share the overall feedback and opinions that I’ve heard from everyone in our group. RESORT GROUNDS AND LAYOUT Both resorts are beautiful in their own way! The Punta Cana side offers a more luxurious experience and is much easier to navigate, featuring a more modern vibe. The Splash side, on the other hand, has a more tropical ambiance with lush landscaping and an abundance of palm trees. However, the Splash side is larger and a bit trickier to navigate at first—it took me a couple of days to find my way around. The walk between Splash and Punta Cana is quite pleasant, surrounded by beautiful greenery, and it’s only about a 5-minute stroll between the two. FOOD - BUFFET AND A LA CARTE The buffet was good, as you'd expect at a resort down south, but the Punta Cana side offered a wider variety and, in my opinion, was better. Service for drinks was a bit slow, though that's understandable since the resort was packed and it was March Break. As for the à la carte options, I didn’t think it was worth it. The buffet was just as good, if not better. We tried a few 'A la carte'—they were decent, but booking reservations felt like more trouble than it was worth. The reservation system seemed like a mess. I know it was a busy time, but everyone we spoke to could only get reservations early (between 5-6 PM) or late (after 9 PM). One person in our group even noticed that if you ordered a bottle of wine (starting at $50 USD) along with your reservation, suddenly the prime-time slots would "magically" become available. Only a few of us managed to secure reservations during the more popular times. Some of our group members who’ve visited similar resorts in Punta Cana during March Break over the last few years pointed out that those resorts offered better food and a greater selection at the buffet. They also found booking à la carte restaurants much easier, with more availability for preferred times compared to Royalton. SERVICE & MAINTENANCE Having traveled to various resorts ranging from 3 to 5 stars, I can honestly say this one provided the worst service I’ve experienced. There simply wasn’t enough staff for the number of guests. I’ve never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for a drink at a bar, but here it was common to wait up to 10-15 minutes. Even the Diamond Club bars, which promised faster service, didn’t live up to that expectation. Maybe if you visit during quieter times, like in January or April-May, the service might be better. I was really disappointed, as Royalton is a well-known brand, which is why I chose to book here without hesitation. The washrooms by the pool and beach areas were in poor condition by the afternoon, with no cleaning staff in sight. I would sometimes make the effort to use the washrooms in the lobby, where cleaning staff were more present during the day. POOLS, BEACH & SPLASH PARK The beach was absolutely stunning—just WOW!
