Harmony Bay Resort and Dive Center

We’ve stayed 23 days in the Togean islands, visiting three islands and five resorts. Harmony Bay Resort is by far the BEST! There are many reasons, but two are important ones. The resort is only 15 minutes from Wakai. They will pick you up and bring you back to Wakai at no charge. Also, you will no doubt be tired upon arriving in Wakai and you don’t want to spend many more hours reaching more distant islands. Second is the proximity of this resort to the amazing Jellyfish Lake and two excellent reefs. Jellyfish Lake is a “must see“ and it’s fairly close to Harmony Bay Resort. Besides its convenient location and nearby attractions, the resort offers free Wi-Fi. This is the only resort that did, amongst those we visited. Additionally, the food was definitely a step above all the other resorts (we even had pizza!). There is a small bar with cocktails and Bintang beer. The bungalows are excellent. The four in the front row are just steps from the beach and the gorgeous bay with good snorkeling. They are clean and spacious. The bathrooms have sinks and you will be provided with a bar of soap. Finally, the service here is excellent. The staff are highly trained by the European owners. They are very kind and will make sure that your needs are met and you are well taken care of. We enjoyed the other resorts we visited,, but Harmony Bay really stole our hearts. We spent a total of 12 nights there! We highly recommend.

Un ambiente intimo con colazione e pranzi condivisi in modo da poter comunicare con gli altri ospiti. La prima volta che facciamo un esperienza di questo tipo, di solito si siede sempre da soli in tavoli separati. Conosciuto belle persone e formato amicizie. Purtroppo io devo fare fede a mia moglie perché non parlo bene l'inglese. Quattro giorni interessanti e tranquilli. Il mare è veramente un acquario non c'è bisogno di spostarsi tanto per vedere tanti pesci di diversa varietà. La notte è molto umido quello si ma si è veramente in mezzo al nulla. La spiaggia non molto adatta ai bambini perché ricca di coralli.

Abbiamo passato qui una settimana prima di proseguire verso nord. È stata una bellissima settimana grazie a tutto lo staff di Harmony bay. Il cibo era molto buono e vario, anche soprattutto rispetto a quello che abbiamo sentito degli altri resort. Le merende erano una delizia!! Inoltre ci è piaciuto anche che si mangiasse tutti insieme alla stessa ora, è un modo carinissimo per conoscersi e magari finire a giocare a carte insieme :) Le isole togean sono più spartane rispetto ad altre isole turistiche indonesiane; la corrente c’è dalle 18 alle 22.30, non c’è acqua calda e connessione internet. Ma onestamente nessuno di questi è stato mai percepito come un problema. Inoltre c’è anche il beach volley, i kayak e soprattutto uscite per immersioni e snorkelling. Israt è un dive master (presto istruttore) impeccabile, ci ha dato qualche consiglio per migliorare e durante le immersioni eravamo sempre pochi, quindi molto seguiti!! La barriera corallina di fronte all’hotel è bellissima, anche con la bassa marea si raggiunge in 10 metri. Consiglio il bungalow più “lussuoso” per l’affaccio sul mare e le amache sul balcone (che ci sono anche in quello meno lussuoso). Il clima è davvero familiare, ci è dispiaciuto un sacco andare via, il personale è tutto incredibilmente gentile, sorridente, simpatico! Ci hanno anche aiutato con gli spostamenti successivi. Spesso giocavamo insieme a beach volley o a carte. L’aria che si respirava era davvero rilassata.

We’ve been in this amazing place for a week with a couple of friends. The staff was kind and friendly all the time, we enjoyed talking with them and playing beach volley matches too! The food was the best we found in sulawesi, we ate different kind of plates everyday including fresh fish, great pizza and delicious snacks. Every meal is served to all guests at one big table and we had the chance to meet many people in a very sharing atmosphere. The resort offers different types of activities, they guided us in snorkelling trips to see the coral reef, one of the best experience we have ever made. Our friends are (advance divers) went diving with the resort’s dive master (soon Instructor) Is, very professional and prepared that brought them in amazing dive spots. We definetely recommend it, we had the best time!

Als je het bountygevoel wilt ervaren moet je naar Harmony Bay gaan. Vooral de huisjes aan het strand zijn prettig om in te verblijven. Het personeel is erg vriendelijk en de manager en de boatsman spreken Engels. Het allerbeste van dit verblijf was het eten. Twee zussen zijn de hele dag in de keuken bezig en maken werkelijk de lekkerste gerechten. Vooral als je vegetarisch of veganistisch bent zul je heel erg blij zijn. Het personeel is extreem vriendelijk Je voelt je ditect helemaal thuis Een van ins mocht meekoken en je kreeg echt een inkijkje in de familie Er zijn 4 tripjes te maken. Twee halvedag tochten en een dagtocht. Je betaalt voor de boot. De halve dagtocht kost 600000 en is niet duur. Het koraal is mooi en voor het resort ligt al mooi koraal. In de middag is het eb en is het wat lastiger daar naar toe te snorkelen. Er zijn een paar tips. In het huisje is geen airco, maar dat is bekend maar ze hadden hier en daar wel gaas kunnen plaatsen om allerlei ongedierte tegen te houden. We hadden de pech in de 6 dagen dat we er waren elke dag regen te hebben en dan blijft alles in het huisje extreem vochtig. In totaal is onze conclusie (we waren met 5 personen) een 100 % aanrader

We had high hopes for Harmony Bay, and we were not disappointed. The setting is pristine and isolated - exactly like the pictures. Yes, it is worth it to spend a slight bit extra to get a waterfront villa. You are just a stone's throw from the water, and the front veranda with both chairs and hammocks are large enough for two or more. The veranda is where we spent most of our time, just enjoying the beautiful bay and surrounding lush jungle views. During our stay at HB, there were only a couple more guests, and the peaceful feeling with the beautiful sunsets and waves lapping in front of our bungalow was just hypnotic. The bed was a bit firm, but adequate. Yes, there is only electricity from dusk until 11:30pm, so if you want to charge your phone or other electronics, you time it appropriately. And no, there isn’t any cell service or wifi, though Yang Yang, the manager, does have the ability to communicate out if needed. Overall we were very comfortable, but if the breezes die down, it can get sticky without any fans or air conditioning. You need to take your own heat tolerance into consideration. We enjoyed the family style meals with the other guests. They cook eggs to order in the morning, or can provide other breakfast options. There is also always a morning fruit bowl, and there are thermoses of hot water with tea bags and instant coffee on the table throughout the day (we were happy that we had brought our own creamer). The cook includes a lot of fresh vegetables for lunch and dinner - a real treat when eating on a rather remote island. We ate a lot of fish which we really enjoyed, but when a family arrived with children, all of a sudden there were pasta dishes and other foods that were more kid friendly. And their afternoon snacks are absolutely delicious! However, my husband’s favorite was having young coconuts, kelapa mudah, freshly cut down from the top of the trees right in the compound. They cut off the tops of the coconut, and then you drink the coconut water straight from the coconut. It is refreshing and full of healthy electrolytes. Then you can have it cut open further, and use a spoon to scoop out the tender flesh. What a treat! Yang Yang, the onsite manager, was quite helpful arranging whatever activities we wanted to do for the day, whether it was going to the jellyfish lake, snorkeling, or out to explore local fishing villages. His English is quite good, and he was able to give us great advice to help us match our plans to the weather. We had some windy days which kept us closer to the island, but we were still able to kayak to the next harbor where there was even better snorkeling than in our own bay. We also took a jungle walk behind the resort which let us experience what it is like on the inside of the island, and visited both a nearby resort as well as found the other way to get to the bay next to us.
