Chewton Glen Hotel - an Iconic Luxury Hotel

An incredible stay at Chewton Glen, we had the most amazing time! Impeccable service, impressive setting and the spa was very relaxing. A must visit

The Chewton Glen Hotel is luxury personified. The grounds are beautifully maintained. Attention to detail is superb. Staff were wonderful. We had a lovely Afternoon Tea here, and as it was Mother’s Day, giving each mother a single, beautifully presented rose was a lovely, thoughtful touch. Yet, when booking, it asked if there were any dietary requirements, and although I put pescatarian/vegetarian, we were still served chicken and ham sandwiches. In addition, having guests, who are staying at the hotel, walking in and out through the room in their dressing gowns and slippers was slightly odd. I overheard someone regard it as “entitled”. More so, one song that played, called Paul Kee by Malia [i Shazamed] kind of disrupted the tranquility, as it sounded eery/creepy.

A perfect weekend getaway.

I loved this hotel, once I'd settled in. The service is great, grounds are stunning, spa is decent and the children's club is excellent. Once we'd settled in, we found that the service was so helpful. For instance, nothing on the menu the kids want? No problem, the waiter will suggest options that the kitchen can rustle up for them. Having cocktails by the outdoor pool was delightful (again, you can order things not on the menu), as was walking around the grounds. We had a couple of very minor issues. The main one was that we got left at The Kitchen. We'd asked the waiter to call us a buggy to take us back to to the main hotel, as we had two small children with us. We waited in front of the restaurant for half an hour. Several times we tried to ask the waiter what was happening, but he always disappeared as we approached - the only member of staff there that did not deliver an exceptional service. We ended up having to walk back and missed the start of the children's club trip (which the helpful reception helped us locate). We were only there for the weekend and this resulted us losing some of the small amount couple time we could get. The other one was that the TV in the bathroom didn't work in our suite - we didn't really need it, but when you pay that much for a room, you expect everything to work. They could also do with another outdoor jacuzzi as it was always in use, despite it not being that busy in the spa. It is very expensive, but we'd definitely return here for a treat.

Just Stayed at Chewton Glen, Beautiful Grounds, lovely location very close to the beach which is ideal. The Hotel itself was big and had a few bar areas and a nice terrace. The Room was a nice size and bathroom very nice with a good shower and bath. The bedroom was a little plain could maybe do with a bit more colour/dressing to make it a bit nicer but did the job. The Spa was nice & clean I did like the fact a Sauna & Steam room was in the separate changing areas. Although I can see this might be a draw back for some couples who might want to enjoy these facilities together. Pool and hydrotherapy pool was lovely and clean and easy to find. The Kitchen for dinner was nice, it was on the more pricey side, i had the pork chop which was £35 and a pear tart. The chop was okay, the tart was amazing. I also had a salad in the bar at lunch which was really nice. The only real downside I’d say is the 12.5% Service Charge on everything. For me it added about £30 onto my bill as I stayed at a discounted rate. If I stayed again I probably would eat offsite as the service Charge does make everything a lot more expensive. Lovely day here celebrating my kids birthdays. Great food. Very informative staff. Lovely treatment session. Main pool was closed for cleaning for 2 hours and we were given a complimentary return voucher for another time. And the cherry on top was the little desert plates with Happy Birthday on for my kids at lunch. Very lovely day for us all.
