Holiday Inn Express & Suites Bardstown

Dirty, dirty dirty! Smell of curry everywhere. Front desk needs training. When a large group came in all the food in breakfast area GONE first 30 minutes. No restock. Stains on floor in room. Room Bathroom gross. Pool closed and smelled awful . Don't waste your money.

Our room was excellent and immaculate. The bed was very comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was great. This hotel is in a quiet location with no highway noise. The breakfast choices were excellent and the common areas were very clean. We will stay here again when traveling in this area.

The only odd thing with the room was the curtains had been pulled down and replaced with a simple rod. Did not look nice and did not work particularly well. Rest of the room was great and I would recommend staying at the property. Staff was friendly and attentive.

I wish I had read other reviews before booking here. I belatedly saw this had a 3.5/5.0 on a trusted review site- that’s below my threshold and I should’ve paid more attention. I book HIE often; this is my go-to chain hotel for traveling. I have stayed at multiple properties this year, for both business and leisure. I feel that it is safe to just “click and reserve” when I see a “Holiday Inn Express” in an area I need to travel to. One less thing for me to worry about; I *know* that my HIE experience will be great. Well, not this time. I hope I can attach photos to this review – I took several. Poor parking lot access; confusing and does not go around hotel completely. Pet peeve of mine; while I was not hauling a trailer this time – this hotel is NOT small trailer friendly. Broken down car in parking lot that had been there awhile seemingly – this was a first for an HIE to me!! Visually displeasing lobby. Unpleasant lighting and layout. Broken coffee / hot water machine pushed to side (photos). Sign was showing age – this was NOT a recent break obviously. Dirty hallways, including wallpaper falling off (photos) that was obviously not fresh as there was dirt (mold?) in the exposed adhesive. (screen shots from video - couldn't get video to upload correctly) Dead wood-roach in middle of hallway near lobby, was there both days (photos) Overall hotel smell was very off-putting. Musty in hallways. Poorly taped signs to the doors, showing lack of professionalism. Doors at end of hotel did NOT work (at least after 10:00 with my room key card – yellow light flashed. Tried both sides. Unsafe when you park around the end/ back of the hotel at night and have to walk all the way around in a darker parking lot to get to the front desk. Very limited staff – I only seen one person during my stay that was obviously a hotel employee (full disclosure, I did NOT visit the front desk for check out, I am sure there would have been staff there). Bathroom for room was *disgusting*. (Photos). Dental floss and long hair that did not belong to me in the floor upon arrival. LOTS of dirt/mold along baseboard and shower bottom. No wash cloths! This was great to discover the morning of check out while getting into shower! Literally, zero in the bathroom. One of two Sprinklers hanging halfway out of room ceiling. Very... interesting.. stain (among SEVERAL) on the chase lounge in the room. The light fixture in room, a round ceiling fixture, had multiple dead bugs (and one live one) inside of it. No posted gym hours (or at least not plain to see) after looking, yet gym was locked at barely after 10:00 (this may be the hotel rule, but it’s lame – the gym is nowhere close to a room where it can disturb anyone and most HIE hotels have 24 hour gyms, at least the ones that I try and stay in when I take more time to research. Very satisfied with this hotel! It’s clean and the hallways smell good. Compared to some hotels where the hallways are musty and have food smells, not this one. The bed was super comfy and soft. I also noticed the towels were white (not dingy) and soft as well. The bathroom had the usual Dove products attached to the walls. Check in was smooth. The hotel was quiet. There are a few restaurants in walking distance- we choose the Mexican one that was a 6 minute walk.

Very nice stay. Breakfast was a good variety. Hot foods as well as continental style foods. I was impressed with the servers cleanliness. Easy parking Good location for distillery visits.

The hotel was so dirty. The same stains were in the elevator the whole time. Never cleaned. The water pressure well let’s just say there was no water pressure. Our tub kept backing up. Just not what we expected from a newer hotel.

Clean and comfortable throughout. Nice breakfast and a very friendly and helpful staff.
