Let me start by saying that this hotel was definitely not what I expected and I’ll explain in details so that anyone that books after reading this knows the reality of things:
- At our arrival at the hotel, the first thing was the elevator broken. Supposed to be fixed the following days but at the end wasn’t fixed for 5 days, at our departure wasn’t fixed still. Causing people to arrive exhausted at the lobby, carrying their luggages for 4 floors. I wonder what an elder person or someone with a physical disability could do in this situation.
- When you enter the hotel, corridors and part of the room smells very unpleasant. The humidity is everywhere and it’s just very displeasing to enter or exit with this smell.
- “The key policy situation”. You have to return/pick up your room key to the lobby every time you exit or enter the hotel. We experience the situation of a gentleman that did not really remembered his room number and was asking for random numbers and they just gave him the key without confirming his name. I believe that if it’s a must to deposit the key at the lobby then a name/ surname or ID check to pick up the key should be done before giving away room keys to possible strangers.
- There is no toothpaste, flip flops or personal use amenities that normally a hotel should provide. Just the sign you can see below, I guess they sell at the lobby.
- The 24h buffet has a very limited selection and is the same for breakfast with some extra items.( picture above). Mind that almost all the food for the buffet is kept cold, so you will have to reheat it in the microwave.
- Being a very old hotel you can hear the water pipes all night long.
Good things about our stay at the hotel;
- location( close by the metro and bus stations)
- Right on the Ramblas
- The toilet of our room was renovated and pleasant.
- The bed is comfortable although I pointed out I was on my honeymoon when booking the room and they gave us 2 separate beds.
