Hanscom's Motel & Cottages

The cottages are close to Acaidia and downtown Bar Harbour. Which makes it very accommodating. The cottage itself is convient to access with a code. Our issue was the code they issued us did not work. This is a contactless place. When i called instead of reprogramming the lock they just gave me there code. The bed was good, the bathroom has zero storage for anything. So i had to keep.my toiletries in another room. The outhdoor area is great. They had tables, a firepit. Bbq to use. Overall a positive experience

Service was excellent and room was perfect. Location is close to downtown BH and Acadia Park. Beds are comfortable and there’s everything you need for a perfect stay. Fire pit and grills available. We would recommend and stay again. The room was clean and super cute.

Great location right outside of Bar Harbor. If you want to be close to town but not fight traffic, this location is perfect. This is an older set of cottages that have been renovated. There are several of these cottage stays in the area, but I think this one is nice because it is very Quant and kinda of hidden in a Grove of trees. I felt a little like we were "glamping." The cottage has what you need. Bed, kitchen, bath. Bed was small, but we were tired.so we didn't care. The bathroom is really tiny, but it does what you need. Over all the cottage was really clean, but it did have a slight dog odor. Outside there is a place for bbq'ing and also a fire put area...that is really cute if you like building fires. We didn't utilize this but others did. I gave this stay 3 stars bc its a 2-3 star stay. Its not fancy. Its a little like camping. When we arrived after 6 pm our room was not ready. There's self check in, and we weren't on the list. When we called, they said we could just go to the cottage and the keys were in it. When we opened the door it had not been cleaned from the previous guest. The owners came.right away and cleaned it and it was fine. Again slight pet odor that I got used too, but request a non pet room if you stay here. I'm not sure if they do. Not a terrible place, but 2-3 star stay. Owners are really nice.

We, an elderly couple from the Netherlands, made a reservation for a Deluxe Queen Studio with a sofa bed & a queen bed through bookingsite ***********. The booking site also describes that all studios at Hanscoms have a sitting area. Our cabin, number 3, had only one armchair and a very very small dinner bartable with two small barstools. There was no sofa bed, no sitting area with at least two armchairs. The cabin was cozy, nice very small (new?) bathroom, clean bed, floor and walls/windows redecorated. The kitchen redecorated in the ‘American (?) way’: white paintbrush over the cupboards and hinges, keeping most of the old appliances (very dirty hood, old small fridge, bad running sink), plastic China (like in our motorhome). We had very rainy weather, but no roofleak, so that was good (not the weather of course). We had to park our car in the designed parking spot in front of our door, so that was our view: a nice white rental Jeep cherokee. I think that when the weather is nice Hanscoms with the nice outdoor sitting area under the trees is a really fine place to stay. But when you have to stay inside this tiny cabin - the size of my kitchen at home - with no view, this is not that great. And we did miss a front desk with a contactperson, we were lucky to meet one staff member briefly when we arrived, she was just leaving. So, all of this compared with the price (USD 710 for 3 weekday nights), I will give it 3 points out of 5.

Super cute property! Far cheaper and easier than dealing with Bar Harbor proper, in my opinion. Very quiet property. Our biggest issue was that our shower did not drain - so we wound up having to jump in to get wet, shut the shower off to lather up, and then jump back in to rinse off. Not what we had hoped for after a fairly active day in the park, but not a deal killer. Just disappointing since it's still fairly spendy, even if noticeably cheaper than in town itself.

Maybe there is variability in the cabins and rooms but room 4 and 1 both had mold. 4 straight up smelled like must and cabin 1 had tons of mold in the a/c and I think it had hidden mold as i felt ill. I had to leave and there was no one to get in touch with. Stay away unless you like paying a lot of money for moldy conditions.
