We spent 4 days here and found the rooms comfortable and spacious, and the heating was more than adequate--Bansko was going through a warm spell of about 13 C in Feb so we actually had to turn them off and were still very toasty. Our two bedroom apartment had a bath and a shower in the bathroom. It's true that the finishing on the room was not perfect--some scuffs on the wall, and a loose doorframe, for example. However, it was very clean and the beds were memory foam rather than hard mattresses. We also had a view of the mountain and the gondolas from our room which was really pretty. The pool is great and has heated loungers at the back, which were awesome. Their sauna and steam room are also lovely, and don't have the finishing problems the rooms have. Beware, the pool area is very slippy! The hot tub is nice, but small. It was a great place to end the day after skiing. We found that families did tend to populate the pool (we were a family ourselves), but apart from the hot tub, nothing became overcrowded or unwelcoming. The location is really unfortunate, because it's quite far out of town (about 1km from the gondola station). The shuttle service only runs down to town for the morning and back up until 5pm. We accepted this and tried to get a taxi midmorning on a day we weren't skiing only to be told taxis don't run at this time. It's not a far walk ordinarily, but after a day of skiing it does seem really long. However! If you are a bold person who drives up the mountain (a perilous undertaking in my view after taking a mini bus), you are at an advantage because you're already some way up the road. The food is very ordinary. Breakfast does the job of filling you up before hitting the slopes. We had a la carte dinner and they were very nice and brought our kids colouring books and pens, and the kids enjoyed the food off the kids' menu. I had the ribs and the dumplings, which were fairly nice, but not exciting. We did have some problems paying as our bank blocked the credit card from going through. Initially the hotel cancelled our reservation but when we got back to them they were very accommodating and kept our reservation while we paid through wire transfer. It was a bit annoying to have to worry about this, but can't fault the hotel as they made sure we were able to stay. I have stayed in my share of 3 star accommodation and would say this is a cut above that for numerous reasons. The comfort of the beds alone would put it above a lot of the 3 star places I've stayed in Greece. It is not, however, the lap of luxury--but then nothing in Bansko seems to be. That said, it's a pleasant place to stay and served us well while we were in Bansko.
