Twin Trees Hotel & Leisure Club

Excellent room with plenty of space and bay window. Comfy beds (double & single) and large comfortable chair to relax in. Added bonus of separate bath from shower and plenty of hot water, which I really appreciated. (Room 265). Staff were very friendly and service was excellent, particularly from lovely young gentleman on bar duty on Sat 19th Nov. Hotel is currently undergoing renovation so a few teething problems such as lift not working, but overall a really enjoyable stay for a nearby wedding.

Where do I start.....it was obvious an older lady on reception that checked us in was either drunk or high as a kite. She was ranting and raving and being very erratic I Can't believe any hotel would employ someone like this. Food was one of the worst meals I ever ate. Salty soup, clumpy chowder and practically raw chicken. Ordered an Irish coffee and it was obviously the forgein gentleman's first time making it as it was a disaster. I mentioned my experience to the young receptionist on check out and she asked me what do u want me to do about it? What an incompetent bunch?!! With staff like this hotel is heading for ruination. Never again!! Drunk staff are unacceptable!!

I have just spent 3 nights at the Twin Trees hotel and it has been the most unpleasant experience I have ever had. The hotel has taken in families seeking International Protection and currently only has 35 bedrooms available for residents (we were not told this in booking). Unfortunately this has created an extremely unpleasant environment in the hotel - security are regularly visible in the doors and inside, but not when you need them. There is a local picket/protest that has been set up at the hotel entrance and last night a fight broke out between residents and the protestors at 3am. No security to be seen of course. Men in balaclavas, waving flags, threatening women - this hotel is NOT SAFE for families so please move your booking elsewhere. On the first night, there were people shouting in the car park from 11-2am (I’m assuming they were the people requiring “protection”. There was also a woman ejected from the hotel and Gardai were called to remove her. You could not make this up if you tried - I have not had much sleep as you can imagine as the shouting went on for hours. This place is an utter nightmare until the Protest and Resident situation is changed so please book somewhere else until that is resolved. There is absolutely no consideration for residents here.

Overall for the price this hotel was adequate. Food was nice and rooms clean and spacious.. Unfortunately check in was an ordeal. The lady on reception, Donna seemed clueless. She couldn't find my booking then she had trouble making my key and then I was sent to the wrong room. She never apologised once for delaying me. She was unprofessional and unwelcoming. Reception staff need better training

On a golfing trip to Ballina. We wonder if we had booked the wrong place after reading some of the reviews. But on arrival everything was perfect. The girl at reception was very professional in her greeting of the group. Had us all dispatched to our rooms .Without delay. Rooms were clean and tidy. Dinner booked for 7.30. 18 hungry men arrived to the dining room .We had a wonderful 4 course meal. And then we retired to the bar for a few drinks before going to bed. Breakfast in the morning was excellent. You had plenty to choose from. All the staff were excellent. I would have no problem recommending this hotel to my friends. When in Ballina I will stay with them.

The hotel was alright for the price. It was in a nice location and bar food was good enough. But checking in took forever. There was an older lady on reception called Donna who hadn't a clue what she was doing. Maybe it was her first day but it was obvious she was not trained properly. Couldn't find my reservation, then mixed it up with someone else's. Couldn't make the key for the room. Did it wrong, I had to come back down. She was a disaster!! The first point of contact in a hotel should be professional and welcoming this lady was not. Garden could do with a tidy too

Excellent helpful staff and nice stay. We saw no sign whatsoever of the issues previously mentioned. Nothing too much trouble . Nice stay with comfortable atmosphere . Food was fine and I slept like a log. Main areas very pleasant - some updating of rooms would be beneficial but I believe is in hand . It would be a pity if the previous review were to be taken to be normal

We were staying in Enniscrone but ventured out for food. Ended up coming back the next evening as well. Lovely kids menu. Food was absolutely excellent, lovely staff, really enjoyed it. Lots of attention to presentation and you could tell care went into the food!

We stayed in the Twin Trees last night. The hotel was managed by an exceptionally friendly, professional young couple who were doing their level best in extremely trying circumstances. The hotel itself was perhaps a bit dated but was charming,in beautiful surroundings. Bar and waiting staff were friendly and hospitable and the food was the nicest I've had in a long time. Our stay was marred by a protest that I was informed has been on going for some weeks in relation to the hotel accepting a number of refugees. The protesters threatened us as we entered the hotel, they asked my wife for money and were drinking cans of beer, it was obvious they were hooligans. We heard a similar story from other guests. These absolute ***** and fools are giving Ballina town a dreadful name. I, for one will never return. I can't understand why the guards won't address the situation and deal with the culprits in a proper fashion. Shame on Ballina for allowing these lowlifes disgrace your town. I gave the hotel 5 stars because I appreciate how hard the staff are working to counteract a horrendous work environment
