We have local trails to explore for snowmobiles, quads, dirt bikes, ATV's and side by sides just around the corner. Only 4 miles from the 6/7 trail head at the US-127 exit 201 that you can ride to from the driveway. We have a front deck with a gas grill and furniture out back to help you relax and soak up the summer sun! There's a large outdoor table with chairs as well as a picnic table. We have a large double lot with wooded lots on both sides (no close neighbors!) that provide a peaceful private up north setting along with a stone bonfire pit out back for roasting s'mores under the stars. For those rainy days enjoy a game of cards under the cathedral ceiling covered porch out back with a ceiling fan and dimmable LED lights! Gerrish Twp. park is a local boat launch that is one mile away. It provides docking, boat launch, fishing, picnic area, and much more as you enjoy our Northern Michigan summers. Perch, pike, and trout are among the fish that can be caught in Higgins Lake plus public restrooms and a rinsing station. All is accessible by car.South State Park and Campground is just 2 miles away which also offers a public beach and boat launch as well as camping. Local pizza and ice cream from Polar Parlar is less than a mile away as well as Nibbles Ice cream and a fully stocked party store. For more needs theres also a Dollar General. The cottage sleeps 6 comfortably with option of 8 if double up on the two full beds. We prefer no more than 6 adults, so the 8 would be with a few kids. We've had 3 10 yr old girls sleep in one full bed a few times while there were spare beds available (don't ask me why). This rental has three bedrooms and one full bathroom and can accommodate eight to ten guests. The fully-equipped kitchen features a microwave, a dishwasher, utensils, and dishware. The comfortable living area features cozy sofas, a wood fireplace, cable TV, and a DVD player.Outside, guests will find a large deck with furniture, perfect for unwinding and watching the sun set over the lake and trees. There is also a Public access 2 miles from the cabin for launching your watercraft. The Silver Dollar Restaurant/Bar is a short walk from the property if you'd like to "hit the town" for some food and drinks and not worry about driving.While in Roscommon, guests are encouraged to visit the different sights on offer, including the Civilian Conservation Corps Museum, the Cross Country Ski Headquarters, and Campbell's Canoe Livery, where guests can rent kayaks and take them out on the lake or float down the AuSable river for a fun day on the water. Roscommon Zoo is another great attraction and is ideal for a family trip for all to enjoy, especially the kids. Higgins Lake has an abundance of Lake Trout that are usually ice fished at the drop offs and in the deeper water. West Higgins Waterside Retreat is only 150 yards from the drop off to fish these species, or you can ice fish for Perch in the shallows. Fisherman also have good luck between Flynn Island and the shore, which is a short drive on land or by ice from West Higgins Waterside Retreat. There are also Rainbow Trout, Lake Whitefish, Rock Bass, Northern Pike, Lake Herring and Smelt to be caught on beautiful Higgins Lake! It’s all accessible from the backyard!West Higgins Waterside Retreat also boasts comfortable accommodations to ensure your stay is convenient and memorable.
