Gasthof Zur Krone

It was my 3rd time staying there and it didn't disappoint. People are always extremely kind, helping and welcoming. Rooms are spacious, clean, in a calm area, close to many commodities. I always have a great sleep there thanks to their great mattress! Breakfast is very various which allows everyone to have the type they wish for: sweet or salted, choice is available. For other meals, the menu is a real delight! My different stays allowed me to try different meals and all were wonderful. Of course it can be a bit slower some days but it's never over exaggerated, and to be honest, the atmosphere is so cosy I don't see time passing by. Plus, when the plate arrives, I always was very satisfied with the look, quality and quantity. It's also possible to eat in your room, and it costs no extra. If german isn't your first language or if you simply don't speak it at all, do not worry, most of the people there can use English to help you, and always a smile on their face. Many times I needed help and everyone was extremely helpful: both to understand my issue and to fix it. The place of the hotel is perfect to wander around. It is really easy to visit towns around but also bigger cities like Frankfurt with the train close-by which allows to travel anywhere. Also, a lovely park is in the very next town, 30mn walking. A real great spot to relax near the lake! When I go to Odenwald, I don't see myself going anywhere else than Gasthaus zur Krone and I cannot wait to go back !

Summa summarum: echter Dorfgasthof, seit sechs Generationen im Familienbesitz, irgendwo zwischen historisch gewachsener Authentizität und Renovierungstau, wohnliche, einfache, hinreichende Zimmer mit unbestreitbaren Mängeln, familiäres, ungezwungenes Ambiente, vorwiegend einheimische Gäste, keine Touristen-Abzocke, sehr gutes Frühstück, sehr freundliches Personal, aber davon derzeit viel zu wenig, ziemlich grottige Allerwelts-Küche mit riesiger, konzeptloser Speisekarte, wenig regionalen Gerichten, viel Convenience und durchweg schlechter Küchenleistung.
