Olympic Lagoon Resort Ayia Napa

We have just had a fantastic break for 1 week, arriving on the first day of their season. This meant not all facilities were available but that didn’t really affect our stay. Being greeted on arrival with a welcome drink was a lovely touch. All staff were very attentive and friendly and the facilities were great. When sat around the pool, the staff often came around to see if you needed any drinks etc. The pools were large but freezing at this time of year, but, there was an indoor pool to use. Everywhere was spotless and our room was large and clean throughout. Bed very comfy. There are plenty of food choices and options / other restaurants bookable as the season progresses. Buffet was great with themed nights and it felt like it was a restaurant rather than a buffet. We got to eat at 2 of the on-site restaurants, both were very nice. There is an app to download to book restaurants / general info etc, but a bit glitchy. Took a trip to Famagusta…..well worth the visit and something the hotel arranged for us - €65 for 2 adults which included a visit to roman ruins. all in all, easily worthy of a 5 star review and would happily return.

We booked this hotel for a special birthday holiday and it did not disappoint. The staff were so friendly, the rooms in the hotel were spotless, bar staff at the pool bar were great too. The thing that stood out was the food. The food was high quality, also way a good variety at all servings. The restaurants were also great especially the Asian one. The game changer was the booked sunbeds, so no need to rush down every morning to get one All in all we had a fantastic holiday and will definitely be back.

This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. The staff are absolutely fantastic, the food was excellent for onsite buffet and restaurants and the hotel itself is in excellent condition. The only minor challenge was the pool was pretty cold but then again we were there in November. Other than that, a fantastic place to take a holiday.

Nice but a few flaws This is quite an amazing hotel with regards to facilities, choice of food and drink, comfort and general ambience. However there were a few things which made me question the professionalism. Firstly 2 days before my arrival i reciver an email saying that despite me booking my holiday over 6.months ago, that there was no room for me and i would be allocated a room at another hotel 7km away. I rang Cyprus to question this (from the UK) and was told reservations go home at 4pm and there was no duty manager. This is the 3rd year of attending this hotel, where i meet up with other family members who live in the Middle East. So half way for us both, so i was very stressed and upset. I had to get my daughter to intervene and luckily a few hours before my flight i had an email confirming my room was avaialable, but it was 48 hours of stress that i could have done without. Secondly, the "spa" onsite is awful. I had a pedicure, which was done in what seemed like their staff room. There was a member of staff eating her lunch and on the phone whilst all their handbags, shopping bags and food was just left on the manicure station. I wasnt asked if i wanted a drink and despite asking for the full pedicure i was just given a very bad polish. I couldnt wait to get out. Also the onsite shop, although very well equipped and lovely staff, is very tiny for the size of the hotel. And when i checked out i wasnt even asked if i had a good time or thanked for the return of the keys.

Too much noise in the rooms.

Beds were amazingly comfortable, shower was awesome hot and strong. Rooms and balcony were very spacious. Loved the bathrobe and slippers, something I haven't had in a hotel in quite a while... Rooms in 600/700 have no sun on the balconies, at least at this time of year... Just a little at the end of gardens. Personally with the ease of getting sunbeds I'm not sure I would bother investing in a garden or pool room, unless I had kids.. this time of year pools are probably freezing! We were told the hotel is full but it never felt like it! Although the sunbed allocation is a great idea, with the number of free beds I think it's kind of pointless and restrictive.. I would have suggested not having it in the offseason, but if this is how the hotel always feels (ie it's full now, even though it's off season) I prefer not to have allocated sunbeds and the freedom to move around. There were loads of free sunbeds throughout our stay. As per other reviews the pool, although really beautiful, is freezing!! I was disappointed to only go in once to play volleyball, and even though we were jumping around I was still freezing cold!! On the other hand the beach is a couple of minutes walk and absolutely beautiful. There's a cool beach bar (unfortunately it closed after our first day... Drinks and snacks still available but no vibes). Not particularly better than any 4 star I've stayed in - there were a few bits that were not clean, needed a bit of maintenance, getting run down - however the bathrobe, coffee machine and ironing board in the room and the ratio of staff and attentiveness of service was definitely 5 star. Although it was a little rough around the edges in a few places, definitely nothing really to complain about. Lazy river was a lovely way to spend half an hour - very relaxing, lots of fun and not as cold as you might expect. Al la carte restaurants were fab. Our favourite was the Italian. Superb food, service and live piano accompaniment. Unfortunately the Greek and Asian are outdoors, and in November it really wasn't warm enough. However the food was great. We didn't really enjoy The Greats... it would be a good restaurant back home but didn't really suit the holiday vibe, food was nothing special, didn't get the concept. Buffet food was tasty and varied... usual problem with buffet, not always warm etc. Drinks were good, lots of variety, nice cocktails. Entertainment was first class, and music throughout the bars and restaurants was very good; only one time in one bar did we find the music 'too English'. Overall a fab stay and thanks to all the lovely staff... would definitely return!
